The second the car pulled out of the driveway, I jumped out of bed, covers falling onto the floor. I left my room and glanced around the hallway before I walked into my sister's room. I looked out the window and sure enough both cars were gone.

I went to the bedside table and opened the drawer. Only chargers and a few pens. Not what I was looking for.

I opened her dresser drawer and pushed t-shirts out of the way. Nothing.

I opened the second drawer and saw jeans and sweatpants. Nothing but a diary. I'd come back to that later.

Then I opened the bottom one and found underwear, bras and socks. I pushed them aside but, again, found nothing. I sighed and shoved the drawer shut. Only it didn't close all the way. I opened the drawer back up and an orange bottle smiled up at me.

I smiled and took it in my hands, rolling it around so the label showed. Xanax.

I popped the top and took two pills. Then I put the bottle back into the drawer and left the room.

I typed the number into my phone then put the diary back in the drawer. Then I ran back to my room, closing the door behind me. I went into the bathroom and started the water, getting as much noise around me as I could.

"This is Xavier. What can I help you with?"

"Hi, my name's Olivia. I-my sister said she gets pills from you?"

"What's your sister's name? I don't give out to strangers. Only referrals."

"Lexi-"

"Lex! Ah, what a sweet girl. Who are you again?"

"I'm her sister, Oliv-"

"Right, right. What kinda pills you lookin for?"

"Xanax."

"Anxiety meds. You got anxiety?"

"Is that a requirement?"

"For anyone else, it's preferable. For you, Lexi's sister, it's on the house."

"O-okay."

"First time only. After that bottle runs out, you gotta pay. And it's fifty for twenty pills."

"Dollars?"

"I ain't cheap, girl. You in or out?"

"Where can I meet you?"

"Where are you going?" Mom asked, the keys firmly grasped in her hand.

"I want gummy bears. I'm just going to the gas station then I'll be back in bed." I lied, looking at my mother expectantly.

She eyed me closely before she handed the keys over. "Half an hour, Olivia."

"Thanks, mom." I ran out the door and into my car. I drove away before she could stop me or Lex could ask to go. Last thing I wanted was for my secret to get out.

I drove the few miles out of town and took a right when the road came to a dead end ahead of me. I pulled onto the side of the road and got my phone out of my pocket.

I stared at my phone, afraid I'd made a mistake. This wasn't like me. I criticized anyone who did anything illegal yet here I was, buying drugs from a dealer. My sister's dealer.

What was wrong with me?

A car pulled up beside me. Its windows were tinted. The backseat window rolled down and a guy with dreads sat facing the front window. He wore sunglasses and there was a tattoo on his neck. I couldn't make out what it was. It wasn't at all what I expected from someone who dealt drugs.

"Are you Xaiver?" I asked.

"You know nothing about deals."

I sighed.

Without another word, he tossed an orange bottle into the car. His car pulled away and that was that.

I stared at the bottle. If I did this, there was no going back. I knew what the costs would be. Was I willing to take the plunge, or the pills in this case?

I unscrewed the top and popped two pills into my mouth. Then I drove back home.

Like. Nothing. Happened.
