Chapter3- Limo

"It's getting late. My mom's gonna wonder where we are." I said, watching my sister dancing with the three other boys. She was laughing and I knew she'd call this the best night of her life.

"Do you want a ride home?" Liam asked, finishing off his beer.

I shook my head. "We can just take a cab."

"In this neighborhood? No, we'll take you home."

"I live here, Liam."

"I want you two to be safe."

"So how many girls have you done this with?" I asked, following him outside to where a limo was parked. The lights of the neon sign blinked over the door to the club, illuminating everything in bright blue.

He raised his eyebrows. "You think I do this a lot?"

"Someone like you can get any girl you wanted."

He laughed. "Because I'm famous?"

"Because you're-" I stopped myself before I said something I'd regret.

"I'm what?" He wasn't mad but intrigued. Which I was surprised by.

I shook my head, unable to look at his eyes. "It's nothing."

"If it was nothing, you wouldn't have brought it up."

"Liam-"

"You can talk to me, Olivia. I'm a normal guy just like you and everyone else here."

"You're a celebrity. You only hang out with celebrities; not people like me."

"Well what have we been doing the past hour?"

I met his gaze. "You're famous. You date pretty, rich girls that everyone knows. You don't... hang out with average people like me and my sister."

"Who says I can't?"

"Well... wouldn't the press say mean things about you?"

"Half the world would be happy for me for having a life. The other half would hate me for being a real person. I can do what I want or I can give in to the pressure of being famous."

"What would make you happy?"

"If I could see you again."

"Me. Are you serious?"

"I'm having a really good time. It'd be nice to see you some place you're comfortable."

Why would Liam ask me out? Why me, someone who was so plain and boring? Lexi was more likely to get asked than me.

Before I could respond, the boys and Lex came out of the club.

They got into the limo, leaving Liam and I alone once more.

"Think about it." He said, holding the door open for me.

"Thanks for tonight. It was fun." Liam said.

I nodded. "Yeah. The whole VIP treatment thing isn't something I do often."

He laughed. "I hope you at least enjoyed yourself."

"I did."

He handed me a small piece of paper. "Let me know what you decide."

I glanced at it and was surprised to see his phone number on it.

"Have a good evening, Olivia."

Lexi stared longingly at the limo as it drove away, the love evident on her face. It was sickening.

"You're embarrassing." I said, rolling my eyes.

"You'd act the same way if you got to hang out with celebrities you were in love with."

"In love with?"

"Yes." She opened her purse and pulled out a lighter and a cigarette.

"What are you doing?" My sister never, ever smoked anything. The most I saw her do was drink. Tonight was the first time she ever did anything out of character.

"I definitely need something before I talk to mom." She said, bitterness in her voice.

"Are you kidding? You can't be smoking."

"Why not?"

"Because... because it's wrong. It's gross."

"Only you think that, Liv."

"Then why don't you go inside and show mom what you're doing?"

She glared at me. "Don't be ridiculous."

"I'm only looking out for you."

She walked away from me without another word. But I wasn't going to let her win this argument.

I followed her. "Lex, stop. You could kill yourself doing this."

"I'm going to die anyway, right? Might as well just give myself a little push."

"What's gotten into you?"

She turned around and glared at me. "How about you go away for a year then say that to me? You don't know what I've been through."

"Clearly I don't. You've changed."

"Yeah, I grew up. You wouldn't know what that meant if it hit you in the face."

"Growing up and smoking doesn't sound like a good combination. And if that's what happens when I grow up, I'd rather not."

"Don't knock it until you try it."

I narrowed my eyes. "I'm not stupid."

She tossed the cigarette into the street. "I'm done here." Then she walked away from me without another word.
