Chapter10 - Grounded

"Thanks for today. I had a lot of fun." I said, leaning against the limo door.

"I'll have to find something really good to out do myself then, huh?"

I smiled. "I do like watching movies from home and eating take out, you know."

"Anyone can do that."

I rolled my eyes.

He took my hand and kissed the back of it. "I'll call you tomorrow."

"Okay."

"Good night, Liv."

"Good night, Liam." I gave him a quick kiss on the lips before I walked up to the porch. I'd been gone for hours though it felt like less time than that. I wanted to run back to the limo and stay with him. I hated sounding so dumb but I missed him already.

"Olivia Raine, where the hell have you been?" Mom said the second I stepped inside the house. The lights were all off but I could hear her in the kitchen.

I stayed where I was, figuring it was safer. "With Liam."

"Who's Liam?"

Shit. I forgot she didn't know about him. I never even mentioned him. Not a name or anything. This was news to her. News I didn't need to be spilling at the current moment.

"He's my um... boyfriend."

"Boyfriend? Olivia-"

"Mom, it's no big deal. I-we're not serious."

"Not serious, huh? Seems pretty serious, if you ask me." Lexi said, standing at the top of the steps. With the light from her bedroom, all I could see was her outline. It was a little frightening.

"Stay out of this, Alexis." Mom growled.

"Jeez. What bit you in the ass?"

"Go to your room before you're grounded too."

"Mom, come on. We weren't out having sex or anything."

"You disobeyed me. You didn't tell me where you were going or who you'd be with. I had no idea what had happened to you."

"Mom, it's summer. Expecting me to stay here all the time is a bit ridiculous."

"I agree. I never said you had to stay here. I just needed to know where you were. Since you can't even do that, I want your phone. You're grounded for the next two weeks."

"Mom-"

"No parties, no friends, and no boys. Is that clear?"

"Mom, it's summer. What am I supposed to do?"

"Housework would be nice. I'm tired of cleaning up all by myself."

I sighed. "This is stupid."

"Should I make it three weeks?"

I rolled my eyes and started walking up the steps.

"Olivia, your phone." Suddenly her voice was right behind me. It was still dark so I couldn't see her.

"Here." I said, handing it over a bit more forcefully than I'd intended.

"My book club is coming over tomorrow. I'd like you to help me make lunch."

"Do I have to?"

"You can help or you can be grounded for three weeks."

Helping her with her stupid book club was torture enough. But three weeks was too much. Liam said he'd be back in two weeks and have a little bit of time to spend with me. I couldn't mess that up just because I didn't want to help a little around the house.

"Fine. I'll help."

"Good. Now get to bed."

"Yes, sir."

"What was that?"

"Nothing." I mumbled. I walked upstairs and collapsed onto my bed. The next two weeks were going to kill me.

"Olivia, please." Lexi begged, her hands folded in front of her, pleading with me.

"I'm grounded."

"So? Mom will let you go out with me."

"No, she won't."

"But it's summer."

"Why do you even want me around anyway?"

"You're my sister. This summer is supposed to be about us getting close and bonding and-"

"We've done none of that so far. I didn't even think you liked me."

"Olivia-"

"Look, I don't really want to go out anyway."

"Is this because of Liam?"

I groaned. "Do you have to bring that up?"

"I'm right, right?"

"No." But she was.

"Mom will let you hang out with me. I'll just tell her we're going out for ice cream or something."

"Lex, she flipped when I tried adding an extra cup of sugar to her lemonade this morning."

"I'll figure something out."

"I take it this isn't to get ice cream."

"Jonah has some weed for me."

"Weed? Lex, you can't be serious."

She rolled her eyes at me. "It's no big deal."

"Smoking is already bad enough. Now weed? What's next, coke?"

"Maybe."

"Lex!"

"Come on, Olivia. I'm old enough to make my own decisions."

"Not ones that involve drugs."

"Don't knock it till you try it."

"I don't think I will be. Ever."

"Are you coming or not?"

"No."

She sighed. "Fine. But you'll regret it."
