A/N: Am I the only one who hates Mike? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE send me book covers.
Angel's POV
Prom was coming up and I still wasn't sure about Mike. I locked my door when he was home and then he would sit outside and bang on it until someone told him to stop. I hadn't talked to him for the past two days.
Everyone was screwing me over and the one person, who I thought would at least care about me, didn't. I was in so much emotional pain; I just cut myself off from the world.
Talia still teased me. Carter would occasionally say things, but it was always Talia. I didn't even respond anymore. I just walked away. She wasn't worth my time.
"Angel, dinner is ready!" I heard Ruby call for me.
I quickly descended down the stairs. I didn't want Mike to try to stop me in any way.
Rick and the girls were already at the table with their plates. I grabbed mine off the counter and sat down across from Addison. Ruby sat at opposite end of the table that Rick was sitting at. This left Mike a seat next to me. Oh, joy!
The doorbell rang.
"I'll get it!" I heard Mike say from the hallway.
I was curious as to who it was so I trailed behind him. Mike opened the door to a girl I had not seen before. She was tall with long legs and small waist. Her hair was brown and blonde. Her makeup was perfect.
She was wearing simple blue jeans and a black sweater with black ankle boots.
"Candace?" Mike seemed lost.
"Mike." She said as she crossed her arms.
"What are you doing here?" he asked.
"I heard you were cheating on me. So, what's up?" she tapped her foot angrily.
Mike had this beautiful girl and cheated on her with me. I was nothing compared to her. I was like a wood pencil and she was a mechanical pencil.
"What do you want me to say?" Mike shrugged.
"Is it true?" She spit.
"Yeah."
"And who is so much better than me?" her voice raised.
"Mike, who is that?" Ruby asked from the kitchen.
"Just Candace." He answered.
"Invite her to come eat with us." Rick called.
"Oh my gosh. I would love to eat with your family, Mike." She sneered.
Candace pushed herself into the house and made her way to the kitchen.
She walked past me like I wasn't there. Mike and I entered the kitchen. Of course, Candace had taken my seat.
"Oh, Angel, pull up a chair." Ruby smiled.
I grabbed a chair and sat next to Alison. I was right across from Candace.
"Candace!" the girls smiled bright when they saw her.
"Are you spending the night again?" Alison asked.
"Again?" Ruby frowned.
Mike rubbed the back of his head, "No, Ali, she's not."
"Candace, did Mike introduce you to Angel?" Rick asked.
"Angel? As in the Angel who Mike has been cheating on me with?" Candace cocked an eyebrow.
Now, if someone had magically appeared and shot me on the spot, I would've felt a whole lot better. Rick was the only person who had known that Mike and I were doing stuff together. Ruby didn't know and neither did the girls. What would they think?
"What do you mean, Candace?" Addison asked.
Ruby was frozen in her seat. She just sat there.
"Mike kissed Angel and he's not supposed to because he is my boyfriend." Candace explained as a water downed version.
Alison looked at me with disgust. Addison stuck her tongue out at me. This was just fantastic.
"Angel and Mike, care to explain?" Ruby finally spoke. Her voice was normal but I could tell she was faking it. I knew she was ready to flip shit.
"I like, Angel. I like her a lot." Mike shrugged.
Was I dreaming or...? Did Mike just say that he liked me a lot? For the first time
"But we like Candace!" Addison pouted.
"I'm sorry." I whispered before I ran up to my room.
I was apologizing for everything. I was apologizing to Ruby, Addison, Alison, and Candace. I was apologizing to myself.
I did this all to myself.
***
I sat in my bathtub and just cried. Nothing was right.
I was so sure that Ruby hated me. I knew Alison and Addison did.
"Angel?" someone knocked on the bathroom door. The voice was soft and faint. It had to be Ruby.
"Yes?" I tried to control my voice.
"May I come in?" she asked.
"Sure." I quickly wiped my face and grabbed a towel. Ruby entered and closed the door behind him.
"Angel, honey. How could you let Mike use you like that?" she asked.
"I didn't know he was with Candace. If I had known, I wouldn't have done anything. I swear." I sobbed.
"Come on, mama. Don't cry." The Spanish in her was coming out. Ruby threw her arms around me and pulled me close. This was love.
I had screwed up big time and Ruby was still here comforting me. She didn't treat me differently.
"I love you, Ruby. I'm a big mistake and you still love me." I cried.
"No, mija, you are not a mistake. Just keep pushing and you will be alright. I promise." Ruby hugged me tighter.
I didn't say anything but I squeezed her as acknowledgement. Ruby kissed my forehead and left. I finished drying myself and I got dressed.
When I was finished, I lay down in bed. I was too stressed to be awake. I needed to sleep.
I had just rested my head on the pillow when I heard my door open. I had forgotten to lock it and Mike had come in.
"Angel?" Mike whispered.
I didn't want to talk to him so I pretended to be asleep. I shut my eyes tight.
"I know you're probably sleeping so I'll get this out now. I'm sorry. I hate myself. I corrupted you. I broke you. I should've helped you, but I didn't. I was afraid of being with you because I knew you were fragile and I didn't want to hurt you. I did just that. I tore you down. I'm sorry. I really am. I hate myself. I know you're in pain. I know you need time, so I'll leave you alone. Goodnight, baby." Mike kissed my forehead and left.
I started to cry again. Mike was messing with my head. I wasn't sure what to do.
Did I forgive him or not?
This question lingered in my mind as I dozed off.
