Carter's POV

Today was Monday and I dreaded it. I wasn't ready to face Colin. After Saturday, I was pretty sure he didn't even want to see me. I was really low.

How is it possible to mess up your life with one dumb decision?

If you wanted the answer, you could just ask me anytime.

I pulled into the school parking lot and saw Colin talking to Zach and Jax. I could recruit them for my team!

I quickly grabbed my backpack out the backseat and ran over to Jax and Zach.

"Jax! Zach!" I called for them.

"What do you want?" Jax glared at me. He'd always been the mean one.

"Are you trying to get with them too?" Colin chimed in. Zach tried to stifle his laugh.

"We don't associate with trash." Jax said his most famous line. I rolled my eyes.

"Whatever beef that Colin and I have does not involve you, Jax." I shot back.

"We were just having a conversation. You did acknowledge me because I wouldn't have talked to you any other way." He had a point.

"Alright then. How about you, Zach?" I turned to him.

"What about me?"

"Are we still friends?"

"I didn't know we were friends to begin with."

"Carter, without me, you have no friends." Colin stuck his nose in my conversation again.

"Colin, you can fight me because I am not gonna sit here and let you torment me!" I was angry now.

"I will torment you like how you did to me." His eyes were dark.

"I know I messed up. Stop shoving it in my face!" I yelled.

"Your whole life is messed up. I can't carry that luggage."

Kylie walked over to us and placed herself right under Colin's arm.

"Colin, I thought you had more class." Kylie looked straight at me.

"He obviously doesn't if he's dating you." I sneered. Once again, Zach tried to stifle his laugh.

"I definitely upgraded. My last girlfriend was a low key hoe." Colin replied to her.

Why was everyone against me today?

"Kylie, do you want to fight me? I am so fed up with everyone and your face would make a good punching bag." I ignored Colin and went directly to Kylie.

"I mean I would, but I just got my nails done yesterday." She stuck her hand to show me.

"Or maybe you're too scared." Logan spoke. I was so caught up in the fight that I didn't even realize Logan came over.

"Shut up, Logan. This is why you have no friends." Kylie crossed her arms.

Everyone was just fighting everyone. Actually no, everyone was just fighting me.

"You had no friends before you starting dating Colin."

"I love how he isn't defending you, Kylie." I smirked.

Kylie's eyes went wide and she gasped. She pushed me and I staggered backwards. I swung at her and got her in the jaw. I heard something crack. I wasn't sure if it was my hand or her face because I swung at her with all the anger I had bottled up.

I went to swing at her again, but Logan picked me up by my waist and Colin grabbed Kylie's arm.

A crowd had gathered and people were recording. A teacher pushed through the students.

"What is going on here?" She yelled. I didn't know who she was.

"Nothing that concerns you." Jax spoke.

"Young lady, why are you bleeding?" The teacher looked at Kylie.

"She fell." Colin spoke before Kylie got the chance.

"I'm sure she did," the teacher narrowed her eyes into silts, "do you need the nurse?"

"I think so." Kylie tried to speak, but it was hard to understand her. Everything was gibberish.

Kylie and the teacher walked towards the school building and the crowd faded.

"Colin, can I talk to you? Can we please have a normal conversation like adults?" I asked him.

"I guess." He sighed and we walked over to a picnic table.

The bell for first period rang. I expected Colin to use this as an excuse to leave, but he didn't.

"Colin, I know I messed up big time. In all honesty, I never even really had feelings for Chase. Every time I was with him, I was only thinking about you," I looked down at my hands, "I regret everything."

That was the first time I ever regretted something. It was hard to say and felt strange, but it was the truth.

Colin rubbed his fingers down my cheek, "This is the Carter I've been looking for."

He pulled my face closer to him and kissed me. I hadn't been kissed by Colin in forever but it felt just like old times. I felt the spark that I had wanted so long ago. I wish I hadn't had been so stupid in the beginning.

"How about we go do something?" Colin smiled.

"What about Kylie and school?"

"Forget them. Let's go." Colin grabbed my hand and we walked to his car.

***

Colin didn't tell me where we were going. I couldn't decipher it because I didn't recognize my surroundings.

Thirty minutes later, we arrived at a park.

"Colin, I don't have on hiking clothes." I stated.

"Who said anything about hiking?"

Colin got out the car and he grabbed the blanket that he kept in there for emergencies.

"Follow me." Colin held my hand.

We walked to a beautiful field with lots of trees and flowers. The grass was so green that it looked like a golf course.

He spread the blanket and sat down. He patted the spot next to him, but I sat between his legs instead.

Colin held me close to him. It was like how he used to, but this time I felt the love. I don't know why I was blinded before. Colin was the best thing in my life.

"So, what are we gonna do?" I asked.

"Whatever you want to."

"Let's talk. We haven't had a good conversation in a while."

"Okay, princess. What's up?"

I rested my head on Colin's shoulder and we talked for a long time. It felt good to be with him again.

I had Colin and didn't need anything else.
