Three months later
Carter's POV
I shook hands with my principal as I accepted my high school diploma. I smiled brightly and walked off the stage.
I watched happily as the rest of the names were called. Each and every student that crossed the stage had just closed a new chapter.
The graduation ceremony came to a close. I found Colin and we exited the auditorium. My mom was waiting outside with her camera. She snapped pictures and congratulated me.
In case you were wondering about Angel, she was convicted on two counts of attempted murder and one count of second degree murder. She was tried as an adult. She was sentenced to 35 years in prison.
Chase had shown the detectives working the case a tape of Angel and Mike planning the murder. Those cameras really did come in handy.
Colin never my left side after he found out about Mike. We recently bought an apartment together. We were moving to Santa Barbara to attend college there. Chase was going to Berkeley of California and Talia was moving to England claiming Americans were all crazy. Logan wanted to follow after Talia. He and Talia were going to study abroad.
My dad was found trying to hop the border to Canada. He was arrested for illegal immigration. My mom never did tell the police about the abuse. She said it was her past and she had moved on.
I couldn't have been happier.
"I'm so glad I didn't lose you." Colin whispered as he pulled away from our kiss.
"Why?" I asked.
"You're irreplaceable." He answered before kissing me again.
My heart fluttered just like it did every other time Colin kissed me.
