Angel's POV

"Ready?" I whispered.

"Yeah." Mike answered.

We climbed out his window and walked into the night. Mike was wearing sweatpants with a blue tight-fitting shirt. You could see his muscles through it. I was wearing leggings and a blue t-shirt. If I happened to go down, I would at least be wearing my favorite color.

"I'm nervous." Mike broke the silence.

"It's too late now. We're almost there."

Mike exhaled loudly. I grabbed his hand and squeezed it.

"This is it." I said as we walked up Carter's driveway.

"Are we breaking in?" Mike asked.

"No." I said as I knocked on the door.

Carter's POV

Talia and I were eating ice cream and watching a movie on Netflix. We were lounging around in our pajamas. My pajama pants had dancing apples on them. My red tank top matched it well. Talia wore a silk pajama set with an elegant pattern on it. She was all about being classy.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

I paused the movie and rolled my eyes.

"I'll get it." I said to Talia.

"Are you expecting someone?" she asked.

"My mom probably forgot her keys or something." I said as I walked to the door.

My mom had gone to a business party on the other side of town. She said she wouldn't be back until midnight.

I opened up the door to Angel and the guy from the mall.

"What do you want?" I asked in an annoyed tone.

"May we come in?" she asked.

"For what?"

"I just wanted to talk to you and Talia."

Talia was peeking over my shoulder.

"So talk." I said

"I think we should talk inside."

"Let the girl in so she can hurry up and leave." Talia chimed in.

I moved out the door way and allowed Angel and the guy inside.

"What's your name?" I asked him.

"Mike." He winked.

Angel's POV

The plan was for me to distract Talia and Carter while Mike slipped down to Carter's basement where the rope was kept. I knew Carter's house inside out mainly because I practically lived here when we were friends. We used to use the rope in the basement to play tug of war.

Good times.

"I'm going to go use the bathroom, if that's alright?" Mike asked awkwardly.

"Yeah, sure. Down the hall." Carter replied.

I sat down at the table with Talia and Carter.

"Carter and Talia, I think it would be best for all of us if we overcame our differences." I started.

"I really don't like you." Talia said bluntly.

"I really don't like me either." I nodded.

What was taking Mike so long?
