The teletubbies had been following the cave tunnel for what seemed like hours. At this point Dipsy had no concept of anything. The only thing that existed to him was his hand against the cool wall and the sounds of shaky breaths.
As they walked he could hear Laa-Laa dragging Tinky-Winky along. Tinky-Winky gasped in pain at every scraping step across the cave floor on his injured legs and every so often Laa-Laa would murmur some words of encouragement.
Imagining Laa-Laa's arm around Tinky-Winky as she carefully lead him down the tunnel made Dipsy's fists clench involuntarily. He knew Tinky-Winky was injured but what if Tinky-Winky had feelings for Laa-Laa.... Even worse, what if Laa-Laa... At that thought, Dipsy blindly spun around and stormed back to where Laa-Laa and Tinky-Winky were walking, bumping into Po in the process. He ignored her and grabbed Tinky-Winky's arm.
"Why don't I help you out," growled Dipsy in a tone that sounded less like a suggestion and more like a demand.
"I can take care of my-" Laa-Laa began to protest but Dipsy shoved her arm off of Tinky-Winky's shoulder and put his own arm around him.
"Dipsy what the-" she huffed, annoyed.
"I'm just trying to be helpful," he scowled at her. Laa-Laa just let out an angered sigh and continued walking.
Dipsy continued the task of helping Tinky-Winky along.
After an immeasurable amount of time, Dipsy felt his mind playing tricks on him.
Emerging from the dark he could almost see smoke and he thought he heard the screaming of some other teletubby. He found himself trembling uncontrollably.
As he dragged Tinky-Winky along he found himself noticing how easy it would be to dispose of him. In Tinky-Winky's vulnerable state it would be simple to take him out of the picture. Dipsy wouldn't have to worry about Tinky-Winky stealing Laa-Laa's affections. A single strike could take him out...
Startled, Dipsy mentally slapped himself. What was he thinking?! Tinky-Winky was his friend!
But he's going to steal Laa-Laa away from you, a voice whispered in his head. It didn't sound like his own.
No. No. No. He dug his nails into his arm. His heart was beating in his ears. His lungs felt like they were collapsing in on themselves.
You're going insane. This blasted tunnel is driving you mad, he told himself in his mind.
Just give up. Give in to the temptation. It would be so easy if you just quit... Let your thoughts lead you. Trust-
No. He found himself screaming in his mind. His head was pounding and spinning. He dully noticed himself collapse to his knees, dropping Tinky-Winky, but all this seemed like it was happening to another person. He distantly felt the stone on the cave scrape his knees as he squeezed his eyes shut, desperately trying to block out the voices in his head.
It's the tunnel don't listen to it.
You don't have to worry about anything anymore, I know what's best for you... Just let me help you....
NO
Don't worry Dipsy, I'm your friend, if you give me control I can help your friends here...
STOP
Dipsy felt his mind slowly filming over. Whatever was in his mind was going to kill Tinky-Winky and maybe the others. He had to stop- had to... His thoughts were becoming muddied.
Stop.
Stop.
Stop...
He made a split second decision before his mind was completely enslaved. With all the control he had left he smashed his head into the floor, causing every thought to melt away.
