Laa-Laa couldn't sleep. She decided she would take first watch. If she wasn't going to sleep she might as well do something productive.
She had her knees pulled up against herself and her head in her hands, searching the sky for a star. But alas, there was none. Wherever they were, the acidic red clouds blocked any stars. Laa-Laa found herself wishing for the stars that always dotted the sky like freckles in Teletubbyland, the ones she had always taken for granted. She wondered if she and her friends would ever see the stars again.
Laa-Laa was startled as hot tears started to run down her chubby Teletubby cheeks. She hurriedly tried to brush the tears away. She knew the sun baby was most likely watching her at this very moment. She didn't want to give him the satisfaction of seeing her lose hope. But, despite her efforts, Laa-Laa found herself sobbing in the darkness. This was all her fault.
"Are you okay?" a voice came from behind her. Laa-Laa whipped around in a defensive position but relaxed when she saw who it was.
"Oh hey Tinky-Winky, I didn't hear you coming," Laa-Laa began to half-heartedly wipe away her tears, knowing it was pointless because he'd already heard her crying.
Laa-Laa slumped down and turned her back to him when he didn't say anything.
After a moment of hesitation, Tinky-Winky sat next to her. Laa-Laa didn't turn to look at him.
After what seemed like hours of silence, Laa-Laa croaked out in a hoarse whisper.
"It's all my fault."
"Don't say that," Tinky-Winky put his arm around her shoulder.
"Please," Laa-Laa shrugged his arm off his shoulder. "I ruined everything. If it wasn't for me we wouldn't be in this mess."
"If it wasn't for you we would still be under the rule of the sun baby," he pointed out.
"But you and Dipsy are hurt. We're all lost and scared and hopeless and-and..." she stammered.
"Laa-Laa," she turned to look at him, "We'll get through this. Together." He gave her a reassuring grin and Laa-Laa brushed away her tears.
"Thanks Tinky-Winky," she gave a small smile, an exhausted, beaten-down, scared smile, but a smile all the same.

A/N: I know this chapter wasn't too exciting and it was pretty short but I felt like there needed to be a chapter like this so you could get to know the characters better. Thank you all so much for 100 votes! I really wasn't expecting anybody to read this story, but I'm amazed at how many reads (about 700) and votes I've gotten! Thanks so much!
