Laa-Laa whipped around as she heard a thud echo about the cavern, then a squeak of surprise. She stumbled back into the darkness; her heart pounding.
"Guys?! Guys what's happening?!" she cried, unable to see.
Tinky-Winky gasped in pain, "Dipsy just dropped me!"
"Dipsy what the-" she turned to him but instead found him at her feet, muttering under his breath, fists clenched.
"Dipsy?"
"Stop," he whispered.
"Dipsy?" Laa-Laa asked, more concern in her voice.
"Stop!" he cried.
"What is going on?!" Laa-Laa exclaimed in desperation.
"STOP!" Dipsy let out a guttural scream and smashed his green fuzzy teletubby head onto the cave floor, causing Laa-Laa and Tinky-Winky to cry out in shock.
"Dipsy! Dipsy what was that for?!" Po cried, joining the two teletubbies.
"Come on, help me pick him up Po, we have to keep moving, who knows what's in this tunnel," Laa-Laa said, fear in her eyes as she looked at Dipsy's unconscious body. He had been acting very strange. He had been more hostile than usual and then the unsettling muttering was concerning. Laa-Laa shook it from her mind. She had to worry about getting the two injured teletubbies out now. She was the leader now. She had to carry the responsibility.
...
Hours after backbreaking work, Laa-Laa's arms were completely numb from carrying Dipsy. Po had been helping Tinky-Winky along when he became to exhausted to walk on his injured legs. The task of hauling Dipsy through the tunnel had become solely hers, and she felt sweat running down her yellow face.
When the light appeared in front of them, Laa-Laa thought she might have been dead. One minute the teletubbies were engulfed in darkness, the next they were blinded by the outside sunlight that had seemed so dim before.
"Po! Tinky-Winky! Look!" Laa-Laa exclaimed excitedly, pointing at the end of the tunnel, where it opened up into the outside world.
The three conscious teletubbies squealed in excitement, on a second wind now that there was a light at the end of the tunnel. Laa-Laa began to jog, or as close as she could come while she was carrying Dipsy.
Soon the blackness of the cave was behind them and they were blinking away the brilliance of the light.
"We made it out!" exclaimed Po in excitement, embracing the other two teletubbies in celebration.
"We need to find a place to camp. And fast. I don't know how much longer Tinky-Winky can go on and we need to take a look at both of them," Laa-Laa gestured to Dipsy. They set off in search of a camp.
...
After a short while, the teletubbies stumbled upon a flatter area among the rocky paths. Laa-Laa gently set down Dipsy, who was still out cold. She crouched down to look at his head. There was a long gash below his aerial. She winced, realizing they had no medical equipment.
"What are we going to do?" Po voiced Laa-Laa's fear.
"I don't know anymore Po, I just don't know," Laa-Laa whispered morosely.
She turned reluctantly to inspect Tinky-Winky's wounds. She didn't know if she could handle what she would see. She looked at the cuts and would have thrown up if her stomach wasn't barren of food.
His flesh was no longer purple but stained crimson with blood. She wasn't used to the sight of blood. There were rarely any injuries in teletubbyland. She wished that was the worst part of it. The tissue and skin was inflamed, red, and irritated, filled with gravel and stones. It definitely looked infected. She dry heaved and looked away. It was unbearable to look at any longer.
"I'm sorry, I don't know what to do," Laa-Laa held back tears as she helped Tinky-Winky sit down.
"I'll be fine," he grimaced but she knew he was just trying to make her feel better. His face was more pale than usual, sickly so, and he looked as if he was about to pass out.
Laa-Laa just nodded, too exhausted to argue and left Tinky-Winky who began to curl up to sleep.
But before he could, a deep voice sounded.
"Hello teletubbies."

The sun baby.
