The invigorating sound of my alarm clock woke me up from my restorative slumber. I frowned and lazily turned over and slammed my hand down on it.
I groaned as I lifted myself up. Suddenly, my mind went fuzzy. I tried remembering my dream last night, but the remnants of my dreams were being chased away by the realization that I'm awake, that everything was real.
I managed to get up from my bed and make my way over to the closet. And then I remembered what happened last night, which made me even more grumpy.
Washington. Moving.
I tried to lengthen my freedom as I ate breakfast slowly, savoring each bite. Oh, sweet holy cow. Who wouldn't want to have Nutella French toast and green tea latte for breakfast?
But mom telling me that we'd be late made me hurry in haste. I don't want to trigger mom's anger on the flight to Washington or she might think twice on letting me live a life.
The breakfast table was filled with lectures given by my mom.
"Pack everything, you hear me? Not like I doubt that you keep secrets like you have a boyfriend.... but girl teenagers like you have a habit of getting guys and hooking up with them then living together when preg-" I interrupted her.
"Mom! I don't have a boyfriend." She just shrugged it off.
"And honey, you're lovely but please, when we get to Washington, no hooking up with those self-proclaimed-hot boys, okay?" Her dad added.
Don't get mistaken. Mom and dad are good parents to me and my brother. But they tend to be very very very strict.
"Do you understand us, loud and clear, Joanna Diane Lawley?" Mother's sharp, blaring, polish accent made me nervous. I don't know why.
"But don't forget to be happy. And don't give a shit about other people. You're perfect, dear." Mom told me.
"I will." I said and hugged the lightly turning my attention to the luggage in front of us. From my seat, I see my passport and plane ticket from a atble afar.
You'll like it there, Jodi. I muttered to myself encouragingly. You'll like it there.

"Wait, what?!" I exclaimed.
"Execuse me, young ma'am? Can you please not yell at your mother?" My mom emphasized the word 'mother'.
"Well I thought we'll be moving Washington? Why are we here?" I blurted.
"Me and dad decided to surprise you." She said.
"Well we're moving back here in LA, surprise?" Dad unsurely clapped.
"Ugh. You know I don't like it here, you should've told me!" I snapped.
"We knew you wouldn't want to if we told you." I just rolled my eyes at them.
"We are we living?" I asked. New house please. New house please. New house please.
"New house." Yes!
I took a deep breath of relief as I knew we're not going to move back in our old house.
"Kian!!!" I ran to my brother and hugged him as tight as I can.
"Hey Jods." He hugged me back as tight too.
