"Okay help me put the Star on top of the tree, Jen please," Ethan told me sternly.
I was helping him decorate for Christmas since it was only 2 weeks away, and we were just laughing non stop about stupid little things.
Dance class had gone splendid, tomorrow is the competition and I'm horrified. I haven't even told Ethan about it yet, but I had bought him a ticket.
He was searching in one of his decoration boxes for the Star, while I just stood there, by the tree and waited.
"Here it is!" He yelled proudly while taking the star out of the box and I chuckled.
It was a beautiful star. It was gold with loads of gold glitters surrounding it and had a few sequins on aswell.
I gaped at the beautiful star in front of me and he chuckled "This may be a beautiful star Jen, but you are my beautiful star," I blushed at what he said and started to giggle like a maniac.
I took a few steps towards him and wrapped my arms around his waist. He wrapped his left arm around my shoulder and lightly kissed my forehead, making my worries flow away.
He raised his right arm and placed the Star on the branch. He adjusted it a bit, and when it was perfect, he smiled. He then turned the switch on and the white lights started to flicker.
"Perfect," He whispered before kissing my forehead again.
I looked at my duffel bag on the floor and mentally prayed that after I asked Ethan, he wouldn't get angry.
"Ethan?" I lightly whispered and he looked at me and smiled. I let go from the comforting hug and slowly walked to my duffel bag.
He eyed me closely while furrowing his eyebrows and went to sit down on the couch. Our couch.
I unzipped a pocket and took out his ticket and walked towards him, sitting down beside him. He was eyeing me and the ticket suspiciously.
"What's that Jen?" He asked me and a smile tugged at the cornor of my lips.
I slowly put the ticket on his lap like it was a grenade and he took it in his hands and read it. After five minutes of silence, he took out a long breath and I looked at him. He didn't look angry, he looked happy.
"Of course I'll go and watch you tomorrow," He said with an enormous smile and a blush crept up on me.
Why was I so worried? Oh yeah, cause your mom is suspecting you and Ethan and if she catches him there tomorrow she will most probably identify her suspicions and he'll be put in jail and I'll be secretly killed and dumped in the basement. Well shit.
"Your mom suspected us yesterday?" Ethan asked me and slowly got up from the couch and walked away from me in a very slow pace.
I said that out loud didn't I? For fucks sake.
"I-I, um.." I didn't know what to say. I felt like my intestines were stuck in my throat and I couldn't even speak. His anger on his face scared me and I felt my eyes tearing up. Ethan was never angry at me, ever.
He paced back and forth in his living room while I stayed seated on his couch. "I'm not gonna shout at you ok? I can't break your heart, someone obviously had to find out sooner or later right? And anyway, I'll stay as far away as possible, and if they see me I can say I'm here to see my favorite cousin perform. Easy!" He said casually but I still heard him worry a bit.
"Please tell me my idea is not dumb?" He asked me as panic shot through him in seconds.
"It's a good plan Ethan, but they already suspected!" Next thing you know, I get a phonecall from my mom. What a coincidence!
