ALLISON'S POV

I heard a loud thud from upstairs and turned the TV down. I was about to get up from the couch, but then thought better of it. Izzy was such a klutz. She had probably fallen off her bed again.

Shaking my head, I turned the volume up and went downstairs to make popcorn. You can't watch the Titanic without popcorn, right?

IZZY'S POV

I struggled to open my eyes, and, once I did, I fumbled for the black letter. At first, I'd assumed the letter was just an illusion. That maybe I was suffering from low blood sugar, and I was seeing things.

Holding up the letter, I took a few deep breaths. Even though it was all here in plain black and white, I had a hard time believing it. It was a letter from my father, who had killed himself when I was ten.

I read it slowly, trying to take the words in and absorb them into my brain. The letter was basically saying that I would inherit everything once I turned eighteen.

Everything he had had. Everything Louise had now. I knew it was the real deal because both Louise's and my dad's signatures were at the bottom.

I wonder how he had gotten her to sign it. My guess was that she just didn't want him to think she had anything but good feelings toward me. Family had been extremely important to him.

Placing the letter back on the counter, I stripped and stepped in the shower. I shrieked at the hot temperature of the water, and quickly jumped out of the shower. Trying to avoid the stream of water, I snaked my arm in and turned the temperature down.

After waiting a few seconds, I stuck my hand into the water. It was finally at a decent temperature, so I stepped in. I fiddled with the controls for a moment before sitting on the small bench.

I closed my eyes, and I think I might have fallen asleep because, the next thing I knew, the water was freezing. I shrieked and ran out of the small, glass shower.

"Iz? You okay?" Allison called from downstairs.

"F-f-fine!" I stuttered, still in shock from having sat in the cold water for too long.

I grabbed a towel from a cabinet and walked to my room. The door was already closed, so I walked immediately to my dresser. Picking out some cozy pajamas, I quickly walked downstairs and met Allison on the couch.

She was watching the Titanic again and was shoving popcorn in her mouth like it was her first meal in ages. Once she noticed I was there, her bowl of popcorn almost fell out of her lap.

"Why are you still up?" she asked, scooting over so I could sit next to her.

"Why are you still up? It's, like, three in the morning," I replied, sitting down.

She spoke again, her eyes remaining on the TV. What was it with this girl and not making eye contact? "Eh. I took a nap before we left.

I nodded, and my eyes drifted to the coffee table. "And I see that you made a sandwich," I said observantly.

She looked at the plate by her feet. "Uh, yeah. I got hungry."

Rolling my eyes, I walked downstairs to make myself something to eat. The shower had left me feeling wide awake.

Once in the kitchen, I decided to just make cereal. I pulled out everything necessary as Allison came bounding down the stairs.

"Cereal? Really?" Allison said.

I continued pouring milk into my bowl, and grabbed a spoon. "Yep. Early breakfast," I said, walking to the table.

She rolled her eyes and began making her own cereal.
