Jessica's POV
Everyone partied through the night that I had to go and wake them myself the next morning. Really, I only had to wake Shin-ah for the moment, so I'm trying to avoid stepping on the others and waking them up.
"What are you doing?" I turned to a wide awake Hak lounging on the tatami mat.
I smiled sheepishly, "Can you wake Shin-ah, since you're right next to him?"
He was literally right next to Shin-ah, but they were at the back of the room. Whereas I was at the front of the room trying not to step on Yoon, "I don't know. Watching you maneuver over the guys seems like it would be pretty funny."
I gave a soft, playful glare, "Hak."
"Fine," he said raising his hands in defeat. He then proceeded to poke Shin-ah, "Wake up."
After about a minute of poking, Shin-ah woke, ". . . Ah?" Hak pointed towards me.
As he turned to me, I beckoned him towards me. He soon complied after putting his ceremonial kimono on. We walked outside the room and down the hall before I spoke, "Today's your day, Shin-ah."
He nodded, "Thank. . . You."
I smiled, "People tend to spend the day partying, of course, but they also like to 'look into their future'. Since today is the day of the new year, people line up to get fortunes, and unfortunately, you and I are to stand and watch as they do so." He nodded.
We were almost to where we needed to be before an icy wind blew through the corridors. Shin-ah froze as he felt the cold air, "You okay, Shin-ah?"
Shin-ah began to rub his arms to try to conserve what heat he had left, "Cold."
I nodded, "Today is a cold day." I looked around and found a shrine maiden, "Do you know where we keep the spare haoris?"
Her eyes widened, and she nodded quickly, "What color, High Priestess?"
I looked over to Shin-ah, "A dark blue." She nodded before taking off.
Shin-ah caught up to me, "What. . .?"
"Haha She went to get you a haori. She'll be right back."
By the time Shin-ah nodded, the maiden was already back and offered Shin-ah the haori, "Here you go, Master Seiryuu."
"Thank you," Shin-ah said softly. He slipped on the haori and we went on our way.
~~~~~~
When we reached the podium where we were to stand and hand out fortunes, there was already a huge line, "Wow, Shin-ah," I said looking over to him, "looks like we have our work cut out for us."
". . . A-ah. . ."
"Don't worry," I said smiling. "They're nice people, just excited to have a Seiryuu present. It's been years since there was one."
He nodded and we began to work. I took the people's offerings in the offering box I stood in front of, and Shin-ah handed out fortunes.
~~~~~
It was midday and a much slower time until we seen the rest of our group. Apparently, third been looking for us everywhere.
Yoon was slightly angrier than usual, "Oi! You're not supposed to run off!"
I sweat dropped, "Sorry, but we had to be up early to give out the fortunes."
Yona's eyes widened with awe, "Fortunes?!"
I smiled, knowing that the only people who needed their fortunes was the group in front of us and Shin-ah and myself, "Yep. Just make an offering, a five yen piece will work, and Shin-ah will give you your fortune."
