Mike's p.o.v
It's been a while since I've talked to Mira. A week maybe? Two? Ailsa has been gone most nights, but cuddly during the day. She seems off but I won't press it. I love her enough to not force her. She'll tell me on her own time. She smells like cologne when she comes home at night. Maybe she was at a friendly gathering and hugged a lot?
Anyway, I saw Mira today. She seemed dull and quiet. She doesn't have that spark she did a week ago. She doesn't cling or even glance at me anymore. I mean, it was pretty dim for me to run away like that. Maybe she had a reason for it? I hope she-.. "Mike, what's up? You seem distracted," Ailsa whined, hugging my arm close to her chest.
I glanced down at her, noticing a love bite. Tilting my head, I sat up a bit. "Hey, Ailsa, there's something on your neck. Might I ask, what is that?" Her stare grew blank before she blinked, quickly sitting up and covering it with her hand. "Might be a rash? I uhm, I don't know." Nodding, I passed it off and lay down, closing my eyes.
Then it hit me. The cologne, her and Angus, coming home late at night. It wasn't hard to put two and two together. I shot up and stared at her, moving the hand that covered her neck. "You're cheating on me?" was all I managed to choke out. Her lips parted, as if to speak, but silence was the loudest thing in the room.
I couldn't believe it. Five months and she's been cheating. "How long has this been going on?" I demanded, tugging on my shirt and crossing my arms. Her eyes searched frantically for an answer, and she broke into tears. I wasn't having it. She tried clinging to me but I was blinded. The hurt and anger was too much.
Brushing her off and grabbing a few things, I decided to go over to the only person I could think of. Jake was too busy cuddling Jess in the other room, so I'd let Ailsa explain my disappearance. Turning to her, I tried making my eyes seem firm, despite the hurt. "Don't call or text me. Don't.. Don't contact me for the next few days. I'm done."
She nodded and I marched out, ignoring Jess and her giggles. God, they make me jealous sometimes. It was raining, so that helped nothing. I ran as fast as I could, trying not to get soaked. A rumble of thunder clapped above and it sorta calmed me. The thought of lightning seemed so cool, so it relaxed me, just a bit. Arriving at the door, I was exhausted, and hurt replaced the anger.
Knocking, it didn't take long for Mira to pull open the door, glancing up at me. It sucked, looking desperate in front of someone I hurt. We stood in silence for a bit, before she stood aside, pulling the door open. We had a nice talk, enjoying each other's presence, and the light in her eyes slowly returned. That was the first night I have ever cried so hard in front of someone in so long.
