I need her (Ponyboy's POV)

"HURRY DOCTOR!" I faintly heard as I woke up, I was connected to more wires, and I couldn't move. I looked across the hall and they were pushing someone on a gurney fastly, I guess to a surgery room. A doctor walked into my room and shut the door. "Hello ponyboy." He said with a smile. "H-hi." I knew he was here to talk about my little 'incident' yesterday. I had to see Lexi, she needs me I know she does. "Yesterday, you were found on the floor unconscious, we checked the cameras and you were sneaking into your girlfriends room, please tell me why?" The doctor said sternly, with a blank look on his face. "I had to see her, she needs me.." I stared at the door. "Well, you injured yourself even more, and if you get out of bed again, you will be moved far away from her room." No.. Please.. "But-"  "Just let her be." The doctor left and shut the door behind him. This is all my fault, if I didn't plan our anniversary in the lot, she wouldn't be in a coma right now, my beautiful girlfriend is hurt and it's all because of me. I don't deserve her, but she's the one that keeps me happy. I couldn't get along without her. If she doesn't wake up soon, I'm gonna go insane.

(Lexi's POV)

Everything is black. I can't open my eyes even if I tried. I can hear everyone but I can't respond. What's going on? Where am I? Is ponyboy okay? All these questions buzzed in my head, I still can't wake up. Yesterday ponyboy walked into my room because he said my name, I tried to reply but my body isn't letting me. He grabbed my hand and sobbed, he squeezed my hand and I tried to squeeze back. Then his presence was gone. It's a new day and I still can't wake up. Please god, I need to wake up for him, I know I can make it. I have to try, for Ponyboy..

(Hailee's POV)

It's been 2 days since Lexi and Ponyboy were admitted in the hospital. I'm terrified, I want Lexi here with me, I want everything to be normal for once, I've been crying, I can't help it. Lexi is really important to me, she's always there when I need her. She's my best friend, and ponyboy oh god. He couldn't get along without her.

"Hailee." I heard Johnny's sweet voice call. "Yeah?" I yelled back. "We're gonna go see Pone and Lex, let's go babe." My stomach got butterflies when he called me babe. I grabbed my things and ran downstairs. Johnny's lips brushed against mine as soon as I got close enough. " i love you." He sweetly whispered in my ear. I touched his scar and looked into his sweet eyes and told him I loved him too. He grabbed my hand and we walked to the truck, on our way to see Ponyboy and Lexi. 

10 minutes later

We arrived at the hospital and on the way in we stopped at the gift shop. I bought Lexi a pink  dolphin. Her favorite color, and animal, Johnny bought ponyboy a book he's been wanting, how to kill a mockingbird. We headed into ponyboys's room. "Hey tough guy." I sweetly smiled. He smiled at me and I could tell he's been crying quite a bit. "I know you've been wanting this book, so here ya go." Johnny gave him the book and his eyes lit up, I'm glad to see him just a little excited for once. "Hey johnnycake, I'm gonna go to Lexi's room." he nodded and I looked at ponyboy's face, he looked like he was shot with pain. "Please tell
Me how she is when you get back.." He added as I left.

I walked into her room, she was still beaten real badly, bruises and cuts all over her face and arms. "Lexi, I know you aren't awake, but I know you can hear me." I started to cry. "L-lex, p-please wake up, I need you, P-pony needs you." I sobbed. I can't help but cry, my bestfriend could d-die. "I bought you a pink dolphin." I smiled. "Things have been going well, but ponyboy is hurt again, he tried to see you but he failed and knocked hisself out." I was talking to her unconscious body. I grabbed her cold lifeless hand, and squeezed it, letting her know that I'm here. Right at that moment, Mya walked in. "Hey." She glared at me and kneeled on the other side of Lexi. I don't hate mya, she's still my friend, and I'm glad Dal and her are back together. "Hey.." I wiped my tears.   "She's will be okay, I know she will." She looked at her with pain in her face. I nodded, not knowing what to say. I hope Mya is right. We both grabbed Lexi's hands and squeezed them, trying to get a response, please just a finger twitch, or a squeeze back. We need a response. Dally walked in. "Hey babe." He smiled at mya. She smiled back. "Hi hails." "Hi." I answered, dally doesn't seem so happy. "Mya, let's go." He demanded. "Okay?" She said almost asking a question. She waved bye and I walked out too. Leaving Lexi behind, I couldn't take it. Looking at her lifeless face was killing me, I was so used to seeing her bright and lively. She was always smiling, she was the life of the party, she was everything to everyone. "Hailee." Johnny interrupted my thoughts.  "Yes?"  "Ponyboy wants to talk to you." He said. "Sure okay." I walked into his room. "Hey." I greeted him, he was reading and he closed the book. "Hailee, how is she?" He instantly asked, I knew he was gonna ask me that. "She is, well I don't know ponyboy, she really needs you I think." I rubbed the back of my neck as he started to cry. I hugged him tightly and let go. "She will be okay." I tried to reassure him, we were both in denial at this point. "I need to see her god!!! I hate this hospital." He yelled. I got startled and he quickly went back to normal. Johnny came in and snaked his arms around my waist. "Hey pone, I talked to the doctor, he said you were healing fast!" He bounced happily. Ponyboy smiled, but quickly frowned. "Where darry?" He asked with sorrow. "Working as usual." I answered.  He nodded. "Well we're gonna head out Pony, see ya tomorrow." Johnny told him. He said bye and we left. I hope ponyboy heals fast, so Lexi can wake up. I think all she needs is him at this point.

5 days later..

(Pony's POV)

Lexi is still asleep. It's killing me.. But the good news is I'm getting released today! I get to see her finally. "Hello Mr. Curtis, at this point on you are released from the hospital." He said gloomily as he unhooked everything from me. I smiled and he walked out. I stood up all wobbily, I haven't walked in forever! "Knock knock." Darry came in and brought me some clothes. I smiled and went to the bathroom to change into my purple muscle shirt with jeans and a leather jacket.

I came out and felt great. "Darry, you can go now. I'm gonna go see Lexi." He nodded and left, of course, he knew how much I needed to see her.

I walked into her room and saw her lying there, she looked a bit better since the last time I saw her a week ago. I grabbed a chair and slid it to the side of her bed. I grabbed her hand and squeezed it. "Hey princess." I smiled. "You still look beautiful as always." I whispered admiring her bruised face. I felt something as I held her small hand, she squeezed my hand. Oh joy! This is going good. I squeezed her hand again, and sure enough she squeezed back. I sighed in relief, knowing she can hear me. "I love you, please wake up, for me." I pleaded. She kept squeezing my hand, telling me that she is trying to wake up. "Doctor!" I yelled. The doctor that released me came in. "She's responding to me, she's squeezing my hands." I told him, hoping he could do something to wake her up.  He examined her and took her hand out of mine. "Lexi, can you squeeze again?" He asked, waiting for an answer.
She squeezed his hand also, his face lit up with joy. "Well, now we know she can wake up soon." He smiled at me and I smiled back, this time it was an actual smile. "Keep talking to her Ponyboy, it's helping." He said and walked out of the room to get medicine for her IV. "You can wake up Lex, I know you can." I tried to encourage her. I intertwined our fingers and her eyes flickered open and shut again. "Baby, please wake up." I started to plead. The doctor walked in and put meds in her IV. "How's it going?" He asked. "She flickered her eyes!" I said excitedly. "I'm going to stay in here in case she wakes up." He said as he grabbed a chair and sat on the other side of her. "Le- I got cut off by the sound of her breathing really loud and she opened her eyes. "LEX!!" I screamed excitedly. I had to kiss her but I didn't want to hurt her anymore than she already was. The doctor interrupted the moment and asked her questions like how old are you or when is your birthday or what is your name. She answered all of them correctly. Her voice was tired and scratchy, but it was still her voice and I missed hearing it so much. "I'll leave you two alone." The doctor winked and left, he shut the door too. Wow I thought. "I missed you so much, I thought you weren't gonna make it baby." I cried. "I'm okay, I am, I missed you a lot more, when did you get out?" She asked tiredly. "Today actually." I smiled goofily. She smiled and blushed, boy did I miss her beautiful cheeky grin. "I missed that smile of yours."
I winked. She blushed wildly. "Boy am I starving." She put a hand on her stomach. "What time is it?" She wondered, her face lit up again, like it was before. "It's about 3pm." I told her. "Want lunch." I laughed, she still had her hand on her stomach while looking around.  "Yes oh my god." She complained. I got up and went to the doctor to ask a question. "Hey doc, can I grab her lunch?" I asked. "Yes, she can eat whatever she's like, and she will be released Saturday." He smiled. I nodded and headed to DQ, already knowing her order.

Hmmm Saturday, that's in 3 days. I cannot wait.  I arrived at DQ and ordered us both burgers and fries with a large Pepsi to share. I grabbed the bag and decided to call The gang. Ring ring, the phone rang for quite a while. Finally someone picked up. "Hello?" It was Steve. "Hey Steve, tell everyone Lex woke up finally, they can come down if they'd like!" I smiled and hung up. I grabbed the bag of food and went back to the hospital. From this day on, I promise that I will protect Lexi like I never have before, she will not end up like this ever again.
