Chapter 17:

(Larry and Maco)

I let go of Nickys hand, we needed to hide, the only place I could think of was the Egypt exhibit; it was dark enough for us to hide in I ran so fast that I forgot about Nicky being behind me once I hid in the Egypt exhibit I heard something running "Nicky" I tried yelling in the most quiet way as possible, Nicky heard me and ran into the exhibit as I opened my arms and held Nicky.

We tried to stay as quiet as can be but we were worried about Larry " let's go find your father" I whispered sneaking toward the exit, I felt someone push me onto the ground, the ground was so cold and hard "Maco!" I heard Nicky scream, I looked up from the ground to find Cecil taking the tablet away from Nicky "thanks boy, we'll be leaving now" Cecil said walking out the door "Nicky!" I heard Larry scream running into the exhibit, Cecil took the keys on Larry's belt and flipped him "it's ok Larry, we were just locking up" Cecil said jiggling the keys, I got up and ran for the gate but it was too late. Cecil locked the gate as I tried opening the gate "Larry, they locked us in" I said looking at Larry as he walked up to the gate.

(Larry)

I grabbed the bars of the gate "Teddy! Teddy are you out there?!" I yelled through the gate, I heard the sound of Teddy's horse trotting toward us "did someone ask for my help?" Teddy asked "yes" Maco said tilting her head "whoa" I heard Nicky say "Teddy get us out of here" Maco said trying to budge the gate "please, we didn't make a canoe, or shoot a wild beast. You gotta help us" I said frustrated "actually" Teddy said taking off his glasses "I did none of those things. Teddy Roosevelt did, I was made in wax factory in Kindley, I never shot a wild animal. I'm not even brave enough to tell that beautiful woman I love her" Teddy looked at me, this was pretty deep "I'm made of wax. What are you made of?" Teddy said before riding off, Maco took her hands off the gate and ran towards Ahkmenrahs sarcophagus "that's all you have for me?" I yelled watching Teddy go down the hall "that's all!" Teddy yelled before disappearing down the hall "dad" Nicky said making me turn around. The jackals were walking up to us; they looked like they wanted to kill us "Larry!" Maco screamed, I looked Maco trying to move the slab off of Ahkmenrah's sarcophagus; maybe he could get the jackals off our backs.

I held onto Nicky as we dodged the jackals blow and enter Ahkmenrah's chamber " help me" Maco said trying to push the slab, I let go of Nicky and helped Maco with the slab, Maco dusted off her hands as I removed the latches on Ahkmenrah's sarcophagus. The sarcophagus lid flew off as the wrapped mummy sat up " hey, hi, don't mean to bother you or anything but your jackel guys, think we're going to hurt you but we're not so can you tell them to back off. . . Like now?!" I said shaking, the wrapped pharoah looked at the jackals before they could stike us and spoke in a different language making the jackals kneel "thank you" I said putting a hand on my chest, the wrapped pharoah looked at me and started to growl at me. This pharoah started to scare me "dad?" Nicky said holding onto me, Maco walked infront of me and held out her hands as the pharoah took off his head wrappings to reveal a young tan man with curly brown hair and cyan eyes. Maco looked at him in awe as he coughed out dust from his mouth "you will not believe how stuffy it is in there" the young pharoah said walking and looking around.

"How do you know english?" Nicky asked "I went to Cambridge University" the young pharoah said looking around the exhibit "you were in Cambridge?" I asked, how on earth did he get there? "Yes. I was on display in the egyptology department there." The pharoah said turning towards us "I am Ahkmenrah, fourth king of the four kings and ruler of the land of my fathers" Maco continued to stare at him, inhaling his beauty, I-I don't know how the teenage girls mind works "hi I'm Larry, and this is my son Nick we come from Brooklyn, well he doesn't, I do he comes to stay with me on Wednesdays that was apart of our custody agreement" I said looking at the pharoah who was getting confused. "And who is this lovely gem" Ahkmenrah asked walking up to Maco, Maco looked down and put her hands on her chest "I-I'm Maco Kings" Maco said shyly "Kings?! Ahkmenrah questioned "you're a king?" Maco looked him in the eye "I wish I was, I come from Connecticut" Maco said looking down again "you were the voice outside my sarcophagus" Ahkmenrah said looking her up and down "I am" Maco said holding his face, Ahkmenrah and Maco shared a smile until he turned towards  me and Nicky "Larry, Nick, Maco guardians of Brooklyn and Connecticut. I thank you for releasing me, now bestow my tablet upon me so I may rule my kingdom" Ahkmenrah said holding out his hand. Oh boy "I would love to bestow your tablet, but we don't have it. . ." I said pointing at the wall "the old night guards have it" Maco said intertwining her fingers together. Ahkmenrah made an "do they now" face. I hope he doesn't kill us.
