CLAIRE'S POV
Owen and I only fooled around for a few minutes in the crash pool before we got out. "I hope you know how to get back" I said taking off my flip flops. "Of course I do" Owen smirked whilst taking off his t-shirt. Owen slung his arm around my shoulders whilst we walked. "When are your parents coming, again?" I asked looking up at him. "They're coming tomorrow, same as yours" he replied. "Okay" I answered quietly as I was satisfied with his reply.
We were hand in hand as we had a slow walk back to the complex. I gently rested my head against Owen's arm. We walked in a comfortable silence which was refreshing; silence is rare since Olivia was born."Mumm! I found Aunt Claire and Uncle Owen" I heard Gray yell literally about 2 minutes after we re-entered the hotel. "Hey, where've you guys been?? I thought you got lost, or, or" Gray rambled. "Your Aunt and I decided to take a small detour, but don't worry buddy we're back now" Owen replied. "Gray, do you know where everyone else is?" I asked. "Yeah they're in the tropical lounge, but I can't come with you as I'm supposed to be playing hide and seek with a friend I made" he explained. It was so cute how he always covered any of your possible questions with one reply. "Thank you, go have fun" I answered before making my way to the tropical lounge with Owen. Owen and I entered a brightly coloured room.
The room was large and decorated with vibrant pinks, oranges, yellows and splashes of green. There was a low buzz of chatter. It was early evening so the lounge was quite full, although there are a few others with different themes. "There they are" Owen pointed out Scott and the backs of Zach and Karen who was cradling Olivia. "Did you guys have a nice walk?" Scott asked as we sat down in the spare seats. "Yes thanks, sorry we left you with Olivia" I said. "It's fine Claire, she's been an angel and Zach enjoys her company" Karen beamed. "I going to get a drink, does anyone else want one?" Scott asked. "I'll have a tequila and so will Claire thanks" Owen smirked slightly. "Actually, I will not have tequila. I will have a lemonade please" I said politely giving Owen a glare. Karen asked for a white wine and Zach went with Scott to give him a hand. I shook my head at Owen, who only grinned rather goofily back at me. I stuck my tongue out at him and mocked "What kinda diet doesn't allow tequila". "All of them, actually" Owen mocked back before kissing my forehead. I quickly remembered Karen was sitting to my right, making me cringe. Luckily when I glanced to my right, Karen was too busy occupying Olivia to give any notice to us.
"Hey, baby girl! Did you miss Daddy?" Owen cooed as he relieved Karen of our daughter. Just then Gray came bounding in. "Y'alright honey, you seem rather hot" Karen smiled at him. "Yeah, some of the other boys had to leave so I came back" Gray spoke cheerfully before plonking himself in Zach's space. "Zach just went with your Dad to get some drinks, if you're quick you'll be able to catch them" I said. Gray shot up as quick as a rocket, in search of Scott and Zach.
"Excuse me, could you please help me" I heard a woman speaking from the hall. It sounded familiar. Too familiar. Karen had the same look on her and I could practically hear her brain working overtime. "Some people are just so rude" another woman's voice rang into the lounge. Owen looked away from Olivia then over at me, "that sounded just like my mother" Owen said slowly. "Gray!? Zach!?" The first voice spoke again. The colour instantly drained from my face. "Nanna! Grandpa!" Gray cried. I cursed under my breath. "I changed my mind, I think I'll take that tequila now" I whispered to Owen. Owen gave me a half smile. I could tell his brain was having trouble trying to understand. Both our parents were a day early. I know it's not much but when your wedding is in two days. It's a lot. "Claire! Owen! You'll never believe it" Owen's Mum, Linda called as she entered the lounge. "You know what, I think I just might" Owen muttered under his breath.
"I cannot believe it myself, that we both had the same idea" my Mum, Cheryl said. "And the fact that we met at the airport" Linda added, Hopefully concluding the conversation. Thankfully both my Dad, Ron and Owen's Dad, Doug, have been relatively quiet. "Well, what do you know, it's time for Olivia to go to bed" I tried to slide that sentence in casually. "What about dinner" my Dad pondered out loud. Crap. Didn't plan for this. "We're ordering dinner from room service tonight" Owen rescued me. "That's fine, at least we can eat with our grandsons and Owen's parents" my Mum responded a little puzzled. "Actually. We were ordering room service as well. I mean we all had a busy day and Gray is especially tired" Karen spoke slower than usual. "Oh okay then, look like it just us" Linda said trying to lighten the mood. "Sorry, we couldn't stay. Goodnight" I said apologetically. I felt ready bad about ditching my parents and Owen's, but I don't think I could of done it. I mean we're having a small wedding. It's not like we won't be able to talk to each other plus the whole of tomorrow. There was a chorus of good nights and we all parted our separate ways.
"Claire, I'm so sorry" Owen spoke quietly as we stepped on the elevator. "For what?" I asked puzzled. "I had no idea my parents were planning this" he sighed. "Owen don't worry. My parents did the exact same thing!" I half laughed. "I know, I know. But I feel bad about ditching them. They put the effort in to surprise us and then we shot them down" he half pouted. "I know but we've had a busy day. I'm just about ready to collapse. And since when did you start using metaphors?" I questioned raising an eyebrow. Owen just smirked at me and wrapped his arm around my waist as we stepped off the elevator.
The hotel room was cool but not cold. I put Olivia down for bed. I had a quick shower after spending most of the day outside I felt compelled to wash. I pulled my hair into a messy bun, I raided Owen's temporary drawer for a t-shirt and put on my pyjama shorts. "Claire? 'Food's here" Owen called from the main living area. "You ordered without me?!" I sulked as I left the bedroom. "I thought it would be nice. Y'know, like the old times" Owen said rather sheepishly. Owen had ordered margarita pizza and fries. I was a little speechless to be honest and let a smile form upon my face. "And I got your favourite movie" he smiled back waving a copy of The Breakfast Club in the air. "Did I tell you I love you" I said as I joined Owen on the sofa and latched my lips onto his. He cupped his hand around my face, making the kiss last along as possible. Owen set the movie up on the TV whilst I crammed my face with pizza. I snuggled up against Owen, making sure I was comfy. Owen gently draped a blanket over me and softly kissed the top of my head. I focussed on the film and listened to the background noise of Owen's heart beating.
