*DEAN'S POV*

I pulled up in front of the house. I recognized it now. This was the house that Kimber and her family had lived in. This is where her dad had gone crazy and killed her mom. I remember her showing it to me once when we were younger. I watched as smoke rolled from the Windows and doors. I quickly jumped out of my car and ran up to the officers as the fire truck pulled in.

"Kimber's in there! He locked her in! You need to hurry!" I yelled.

"You need to calm down, sir," an officer said.

"I can't calm down! The love of my life is in there and she's going to die!"

I watched as firemen began to enter the house. I stood outside pacing. It seemed like 30 minutes had gone by before I seen a fireman carrying out Kimber. The medics immediately rushed over to begin checking on her. I pushed past the officer that was holding me back. "Sir, you can't go over there," he said to me.

I didn't even turn around. I continued running towards Kimber as the medics put her on a stretcher and yelled at the cop, "f**k you!"

I grabbed Kimber's hand as they raised the stretcher. "Is she ok?" I asked.

"we won't know for sure until we do some tests but she's alive," the medic said as we rushed towards the ambulance.

Suddenly I felt Kimber squeeze my hand. I looked down at her and seen her eyes flutter open. "Jon..." she could barely speak. I leaned down closer to her and kissed her forehead which was black from the smoke.

"I'm here, baby. I'm not going anywhere. I love you Kimber," I said.

Kimber smiled at me before her eyes began to flutter shut. The small travel machine the medics had hooked to her began to flatline. I was quickly pushed to the side as medics began trying to stabilize her and get her in the ambulance. I stood back and ran my hands through my hair. This couldn't be it. She can't just give up like that. This can't be it.

I walked back to my car and followed the ambulance to the hospital. I was scared. This was worse than her just being kidnapped. I could lose her. After everything, she could be gone. What would I do without. It had already been proven that I can't live without her.

I found a parking space at the hospital and quickly ran inside. I found the emergency department quickly and went to the reception desk. I have them Kimber's information but there wasn't much they could tell me yet since she had just gotten there. I just wanted to know that she was alive.

The receptionist told me to have a seat and that a doctor would be out when they had more information. I walked over to a chair and sat. I waited and waited for what seemed like an eternity. So many thoughts and emotions were flooding my body. I didn't know what to do or think. Everything had gone down hill so fast and I was scared. I was scared I would loose the one person that had always been by my side. The one person who always believed in me and who had always given me strength to keep fighting.

Finally a doctor came out and called my name. There were others in the waiting room so he pulled me into the hallway to talk privately. "We were able to bring Kimber back but unfortunately she is in a coma right now. It can last a couple of days to months or she may never pull out of it. She was lucky the door to the basement was shut and she didn't get burnt but the lack of oxygen and the smoke from the fire did some damage to her lungs. She must have fallen and hit her head as well. There was a laceration on the back of her head which is what has caused the coma. We have more tests to run and once we have more information, I will let you know more," the doctor said.

I ran a hand through my hair. "can I see her?" I asked.

"yes but only for a little bit. We will be moving her to a room soon. If you would like, I can have them set up a bed for you in her room."
