Chapter 5

•Matt's POV•
I got a text from Jack and he asked me about where my best friend/ crush likes to eat. I was so disappointed when he told me he asked Katelyn out and she said yes. I knew I should have done it but she always talked about him and I didn't want to be selfish. She only really thinks of me as a friend anyways. I think to let how I feel about her out I'm going to text her.

M= Matt
K= Katelyn

M: Katelyn I know we are best friends but I think I love you. I love you more than Jack and I know he will hurt you in the end so I just want you to know that I love you so much.

* tries to delete it but accidentally pressed send *

OH MY GOD! She is going to freak out! So is Jack what am I supposed to do?!?

K: MATTHEW LEE ESPINOSA what are you talking about?
M: Katelyn I love you.
K: Matt you can't. I'm happy with Jack. I'm sorry.
M: Katelyn I knew this would happen. But when he hurts you my offer will still stand. And even if you don't like me like that I'll
always be a shoulder to cry on.
K: Jack won't hurt me Matt!
M: he always has with all of the other girls.
K: he's different now so leave him alone.
M: wow Kate I thought we were best friends.
K: I don't know anymore Matt.
M: Kate please
K: Matt stop dissing my boyfriend and let me be.
M: Kate I love you as a best friend and as more than that.
K: MATT! I'm with Jack so get that through your thick skull
K: until you are done talking crap about my boyfriend don't talk to me.
M: No Kate wait!
K: it's Katelyn. Only JACK calls me Kate. Or Katie. Leave me alone Matt.

•Katelyn's POV•

And with tears rolling down my face I typed
"It's Katelyn. Only JACK calls me Kate. Or Katie."
Matt was one of my best friends. He knew more about me than anyone else. Why did he have to go and ruin our friendship? I got another text from Matt saying he wasn't going to leave our friendship. I knew I would need him later, just not now. I called Jack and said sobbing "Jack I n-need you" "I'm coming baby. Hold on." He whispered. And with that I ended the call. Ten minutes later I heard a knock on the front door. I ran down and answered it. Jack immediately pulled me into a hug as I cried into his chest. He rubbed my back and told me it was going to be alright.

•Jack's POV•
"What's wrong?" I asked her. "H-here" she said handing me her phone. "It's M-Matt" I read the texts and told her she did the right thing and then she asked me to delete his number and block him on all of her social
Media sites. I did. I handed her her phone back and hugged her. I didn't know what to say at all. All I could think of was him making my baby girl hurt. And how I was going to hurt him.
