Me, Zak and the guys quickly sped behind the ambulance carrying Jason. I couldn't stop crying, knowing that Jason has a bullet in him and witnessing it was so terrifying. After at least 10 minutes, we pulled into the emergency room parking lot, running into the hospital. I saw a bunch of doctors and nurses surrounding Jason on the gurney.
They on a mask onto Jason's face, providing him oxygen to breath. A few doctors rushed away to the front desk. Zak put his arm around my shoulder, keeping me from going anywhere. But as soon as I saw Jason and the condition he was in, I ran from Zak's grip to Jason.
The white shirt he was wearing under his black leather jacket was covered in his blood. His eyes were still slightly open, barely moving around from the shock he was in. I gently caressed his face, afraid to hurt him. He smiled small behind the mask. Tears were falling violently from my eyes. "Don't leave me." I whispered, sobbing.
Jason took a slow breath, he was getting weaker by the second. "Don't forget..me." He struggled, rasping out. "No Jason don't talk like that. You're gonna make it. You're my Mighty McCann." I whispered, tears falling. "They're not gonna be..able to do..it." He said, his eyes barely opened. "Jason stop it. You're a fighter. I know you are." "I want..you to know some..thing." He said, his shaking hand grabbing mine.
I nodded, listening to what he was going to say. "I love you..and I need you to..move on." He said, his grip getting weaker on my hand. His eyes were closing now. "No! Don't close your eyes! I need you!" I bawled. I felt one of the guys pull me back as the doctors took him down the hall. "He's not gonna die, he's-he's a fighter." I said for about the millionth time today.
"Scarlett, calm down. He's gonna be alright. Okay? That pain in the ass isn't gonna give up that easy." Zak said cracking a joke about it. "I know but I'm just scared." I whispered into his chest. "I think we're all a little scared here. I get scared, Andrew and Ben get scared. Even Jason gets scared. He's scared right now I bet you 110%. No doubt. We'll be able to see him soon." He said comforting me. "Thank you. All of you guys. For everything." I cried lowly.
For three hours, we sat outside Jason's room. I kept getting more and more paranoid about it. Andrew came walking down the hall after staying outside for a bit. His hand reached out and handed me my phone. "I found this and thought you would want it."
I grabbed it and thanked him. I unlocked it and saw a bunch of missed calls from my family. I dialed my mom, knowing she'd understand the most. I stood up and walked down the hall away from the guys. "Hello sweetie? Where are you?! We're worried sick." "I'm alright mom. Trust me." I cry into the phone.
"Oh honey why are you crying?" "I-If I tell you, do you promise not to get mad?" I stuttered out. "Of course." "Well, Jason has been in California for the past couple weeks, and he's been staying at the house. Today, the gang Jason is associated with..took me. And Jason chased after me, but..." "But what Scarlett?" "Jason got shot." I cried harder into the phone.
"And he's in the hospital right now. I'm afraid he's going to die mom!" I said putting a hand over my mouth. "We'll be right over. We all love Jason and we'll be there in a few." She said. "Thank you." I whispered before hanging up. I walked back to the guys taking a deep breath. "Your family is coming aren't they?" Zak asked.
I nodded. "Good. This kid needs all the help he needs. He may only be nineteen and thinks he doesn't need anybody but..your family is the closest thing to a family he has. He's been surrounded by us for the past 5 years. Since the kid was 14. He doesn't want to be around 20 year olds like us." He chuckled. I nodded smiling small.
Twenty minutes later I saw my parents and pretty much the whole family walking down the hall. Everyone introduced themselves. The crew and the family. The family and the crew. We were interrupted when we heard the door to Jason's room open.
"Ms. Reed?" A doctor asked. I walked in front of every body to him. "Jason has just been put on his medication so he will fall asleep in a few minutes but he insisted to talk to you first." He smiled. I grinned, nodding. I walked into Jason's room, seeing him with an IV in his arm and you were able to see the huge bandage on his chest coming through his hospital gown.
He slowly turned his head. "Hi baby." He quietly said, hearing the pain in his voice. "Jason don't talk if it hurts." I hushed him. "But I wanted to say sorry." He said slowly. "I'm sorry for scaring you back there...saying to move on. I was scared..I didn't know what was going to happen to me. This is all my fault." He whispered.
"No, Jason baby. Don't blame this on yourself. It wasn't your fault. Okay. No one takes the blame for this. I'm just happy you're okay." He just nodded. He slowly moved over patting the spot next to him. "Please lay down with me." He croaked. I carefully sat next to him laying on his shoulder as far away as I could from his bullet wound.
Within seconds I heard his soft, difficult breaths. I smiled knowing he was okay and he was going to live. His hands were still interlaced with mine. I brought his hand up to my lips kissing his knuckles, feeling myself slowly fall asleep next to him.
