Chapter 2: Adventures in Babysitting

I glanced up at the box on my kitchen table for the hundredth time.

"No, no, no don't even think about it." I scold myself turning back to my computer. But the temptation kept eating away at me. I'm mean what was the harm really? In reality it was just a stupid piece of clothing. It's not like trying it on was a big deal. It's not like I'm signing a contract. I'm just trying on a Halloween costume. I glanced at the stupid box once more and rolled my eyes. Screw it! I got up from my seat and stomped up to my kitchen table. I ripped the box open and held up the box.

"Whoa, wait a second. What am I doing? I was almost killed yesterday by some insane doctor because I got involved in this. This is stupid, I'm not doing this." I dropped the suit on the table and walked into my living room. I paced back and forth and stopped after three laps then looked back at the table.

"No, no, I'm not...I'm not...going to....damn it." I marched back to the table snatching the suit once again off the table. "If I don't put it on I'm just going to keep thinking about it. I just needed to get it over and done with." I dropped the suit in the box hauling the whole box into my bed room. I dumped the entire thing on my bed and stripped.

Believe it or not, figuring out how to put the stupid thing on was not as easy as you might think. Honestly I wasn't thinking about practicality when I designed it. I just wanted the stupid thing to look cool. Putting on the suit first didn't work so I put on the leggings things first, then the suit, after that I just slipped on the boots and arm guards. And I didn't look half bad. I looked at myself in full length mirror just taking it all in. My blue hair was still a bit of a shock but everything else looked great. All I needed was a pack of hair dye and I'd be set. As soon as I finished checking myself out the phone rang.

I looked anxiously at the box. Should I just let it ring? Before I could make a move towards the phone it stopped ringing. I took a deep breath turning back to my mirror when the phone rang again. I walked hesitantly towards the box and picked it up. "Hello?"

"Enjoying your suit?" The voice asked. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.

"I...uh...I guess so."

"It fits like a glove." I looked around my apartment but I didn't spot anything. Where the hell was she and how could she see me? "Almost like it was meant to be."

"Well getting the right size helps I guess." I muttered still looking around my bed room.

"That's not what I meant."

"I know what you meant," I snapped, then took a deep breath. "Listen, I am grateful that you saved me believe me...but I...god I don't know what you want from me. What do you want me to do with this?"

"You said you knew."

"I, well, I have an idea but I-I can't do what you want me to do."

"Why not?" She asked easily.

"I'm... not a super hero! I'm just a normal person. I don't fly or have some stupid little side kick. I'm just a person. I live in a crappy second rate apartment surrounded by old people, I have no freaking job, and I've been fired from every job I've ever had in my entire life. Does that sound like a superhero to you?"

"Your apartment says absolutely nothing about you as an individual. As for your multiple jobs, you were sick and had weak immune system, according to your medical records. It's not something you have control of. It's not who you are nor does it define you as a person."

"How did you-never mind, it doesn't matter. But what do you mean had? I still get sick all the time-"

"But you haven't been sick for the past few days have you?"
