~Seri~
"Ughghhidsfnck" I spluttered incoherently as a bat flew into my face, causing a rupture of laughter erupt from around me.
"Fuck" I swore loudly as I lost my balance, and was caught by Remus who was standing behind me.
"Doing well this morning Seri" He chuckled, lifting me to my feet and guiding me to where James was speaking with Lily at a table. James looked up vaguely when we came over but attempted to resume his conversation whilst Lily turned to face me with a smile which was a nice change to the lovely glares my always-there-for-me-whenever-whatever-so-called-best-friends were giving me. I gave her a tired one in return and grabbed a slice of toast to start chewing on.
"What are you two civilly gossiping about then?" Rem asked curiously, pouring some milk into his cereal, raising his eyebrows.
"Nothing" James mumbled sourly as Lily cried enthusiastically "Halloween!"
"Well done Lily, that is today" I replied, sarcasm heavy in my voice and I swear saw James smirk.
"We're planning how the celebrations are going to go, James here is set on having a full-blown party but as Head-girl I-"
"But it is what everyone wants! We'd be preaching to the choir, I'm sure Minnie will be fine with it"
"It doesn't matter about the majority" Lily scolded, "And I don't think Professor McGonagall would really appreciate that name"
James rolled his eyes but continued to eat his bacon sandwich. The table was silent for a few moments before I cleared my throat awkwardly and looked over at James.
"Where's um, Sirius this morning?" I asked cautiously, attempting to sound casual.
"Dunno" James didn't even look up at me and I resisted the urge to hit him. Sighing instead, I finished my toast and stood up from the table.
"Going somewhere?" Lily questioned.
"Just getting some fresh air, bit of a headache" I smiled, tapping my head and leaving the table. I stood up, stretching out my back, swearing as it cracked and shhh'd the following laughs.
The library was quiet. Nice and very quiet, serene almost, as most people were at breakfast or getting ready for tonight's presumed celebrations. Ahhh Halloween, my least favourite holiday of the year. Nothing personal, just... bad memories I suppose, ones of back home- my 'real' home.
Seri, Seri!
I jumped suddenly in my seat and turned quickly to see who was around me, to find the library still empty. The thing I hated the most was how quickly I recognised the voice, and how quickly it scared me to the bone. The memory was still there, seared into my brain, a memory which I had suppressed badly, resurfacing when I least needed it. When my thoughts were going downhill.
"Seri!" I jumped again, hearing it louder this time and turning to see a concerned Remus staring at me.
"Oh, shit, Remus, you scared me man" I pushed the hair off my face and took a deep breath as he continued to stare, his height looming over me, "Care to sit?"
"Don't mind if I do" He kept his eyes trained on me as he grabbed a chair from behind him and sat down, leaning towards me. His shoulders hunched and his eyes roamed my face and I cowered back slightly.
"What..?"
"What's wrong, Seri?" I groaned, it wasn't the right time it wasn't but it was also a good a time as any.
"You haven't guessed?" I laughed weakly, giving him a tight smile and biting the sleeve of my jumper.
"I have my... ideas. I just want to hear them from you first"
