The Winnings

The music blasted loudly across the common room as people jumped and danced and collapsed across couches. The common room was so packed that it would be harder to find someone in here than in a hay stack. And by someone I mean a needle.

...

It made sense. Anyway, the couches and tables were all pushed up against the sides of the common room, except for one which was now covered in food which James and Sirius had magically turned up with after disappearing for an hour or so. They had also bewitched a few, though I'd rather not mention what the food would do.

I was cheering at the top of my lungs and jumping around with everyone else, having the time of my life and a little too many Butterbeers. Lily was beside me, dancing like a maniac. She too may have had a few too many Butterbeers. This may or may not have been my idea.

"I'm getting some food" I yelled across the music to Lily.

"What?" She mouthed back, the music and yelling blocking out her voice. I laughed and waved her off, weaving through people to get to the food. People from almost every house were in here, blocking my way to the food and patting me on the back.

Sadly, the food table was just as crowded. People were almost fighting over the leftover chocolate balls and there was minimal Butterbeers left. I ducked under the table and crawled over to where no people were, standing up and crashing into some poor unfortunate soul.

"Ow fuck! Oh trust you Seri" Charlene smiled at me as she helped me stand up.

"Hey! Sorry about um crashing into you and stuff..." I trailed off, grinning sheepishly but she just smiled.

"Nah, don't worry about it, great party by the way" She looked away from me and onto the dancing lunatics.

"Yeah, more of James and Sirius's idea" I chuckled. They were so happy that they finally had an excuse to have a ridiculously over-the-top party.

"Where are they by the way?"

"Shit, I dunno" I replied, looking around me at the masses of people. Suddenly there was some cheering and laughing over to my right, making me and Charlene grin.

"I'll try over there then" She said, nodding her head over to the outburst of noise. I waved her off, chuckling and grabbing the last bottle of butterbeer when someone else reached for it.

"Oi, I'm thirsty!" a voice yelled and I turned around swiftly, annoyed.

"Obviously I am thirsty too" I retorted before grinning when I realised who it was, "Olive! Hey, what's up?"

"Sorry, what?" She mouthed.

"Don't worry" I mouthed back, shaking my head.

"What?" She mouthed again, her brow furrowed.

I laughed and shook my head once more as she rolled her eyes with a grin and made her way over to where (presumably) Lily and Remus were. I hummed along to the music whilst sipping my butterbeer, leaning against the food table. It was nice to see everyone enjoying themselves because of me for once.

I chuckled to myself as Mary Macdonald jumped up on a chair and started dancing like a lunatic. Maybe she thought it was alluring of sorts.

"She kind of looks like a lunatic doesn't she?" Collin McCarthy said to me, leaning against the table next to me. He was a 6th year too but we ran in completely different circles, he hung out more at the library whilst I was mostly outside jumping in the river.
