Never Ending Surprises (Marauders era love story)

"Each and every one of you must abide by the rules set out for your safety in this tournament, do you understand?" 

Dumbledore eyed us all seriously, his eyes meeting mine for a second longer before we all nodded to him.

"Okay, the first task will be in a couple of weeks, you may have some duties as a champion before then though" 

He looked around at us once more to make sure we had understood.

"Good, now everyone off to bed, Pip Pip!" 

He smiled as we turned and walked towards the main doors towards the great hall. Everything was quiet as all of the students had been dismissed already.

"You excited to be in ze tournament?" 

I heard a heavy accent ask from beside me and I turned to see the Durmstrang boy, Nick.

"Excited enough to throw up," I said with a small laugh, " I'm Seri by the way."

I held out my hand to him and he shook it, cocking his head to one side.

"Nick" He grinned and shook my hand before saying goodnight and heading in the opposite direction.

I walked down to breakfast with Rem and Lils and sat down opposite James and Sirius. Sirius and James immediately turned on the game faces, their smiles endless and turned to their left, where some Beauxbatons girls raised their eyebrows. I rolled my eyes and turned when someone tapped me on the shoulder. I turned to see a tall, brown-haired boy with quite pale skin.

"Hey, Nick!" I said, putting my hand out. But instead of shaking it, he kissed it, making me blush and James grin broadly. I smiled at him. We had become friendly over the past few weeks with champion duties and he seemed very... let's say nice.

"Hello Seri," he replied in a heavy accent.

"Was there something you wanted?" I asked, trying not to sound rude, but my grumbling stomach wasn't helping.

"Yes, I was wondering if maybe you wanted to.." he took a deep breath, "I was wondering if you wanted to go out with me at some time."

"I would love too" I replied, feeling increasingly excited. I caught Lily's eye and looked away quickly. He smiled back at me and walked back down to where his friends were sitting on the Ravenclaw table. I turned back to James and kicked him, but he kept grinning.

Sirius was looking over at the Beauxbaton girls with a slightly annoyed look on his face.

"It seems that the Beauxbatons' girls do have good taste" I grinned at Sirius and he gave me a small smile back. I wonder why he was so upset? there were plenty more girls in the school he hadn't made out with pointlessly. I stood up in a bit of a huff, the least a good friend could do was pretend to be happy someone found me interesting.

The Durmstrang boy, Nick or whatever, walked away and I felt a sudden urge to hit him. I looked away and over to the Beauxbaton girls', trying to make sure my face wasn't showing any emotion.

"It seems that the Beauxbaton girls do have good taste" Seri grinned at me, and I gave her a small smile back.

I walked up to the Gryffindor Common room with James, leaving Seri and Rem to talk to Lily about homework and what-not. We were just about to go through the portrait hole when James pulled me aside.

"What?" I said, slightly alarmed.

"Ok, what the hell is going on" he looked at me pointedly. I cleared my throat, swallowing loudly.
