Tris's POV
"Get up Bea! You have to go to school!" Caleb yells. I groan and get up.
I take a very quick shower and put on an electric blue crop top, a white flare skirt, and white sneakers. I curl my hair a little and apply black mascara and red lipgloss. I grab my stuff and run downstairs. I grab an apple and stick it in my mouth. I run out the door and get in my car. I look at the time and see that school doesn't start for 30 minutes. And I thought I was going to be late.
I drive to school and park. I go to my locker and get the stuff I need. I decide to stay in the hallway because I don't want to go into the classroom yet. I sit down against the lockers and think. I don't know what I'm going to tell Four. I really like him, but I don't want my past to hurt him. Just forget about it right now. I take my book out and start reading.
"Hey," I hear someone say. I look over and see Four.
"Oh. Uh. Hey Four," I say.
"Look. I know I confessed that I have feelings for you, and I do. But if you don't like me, and I'm fine if you don't, I hope we can still be friends," Four says. I give him a small smile.
"Of course we can," I reply.
"Do you know your answer yet?" he asks.
"No. I'm sorry. I still have to think about it," I answer.
"That's ok," he says.
The bell rings, and Four helps me up.
"Thanks Four. I'll see you later," I say.
"Ok. Bye," he replies.
"Bye," I say.
I walk to the classroom and sit down at my desk. The teacher walks in, and class begins.

The bell rings, and I walk to the cafeteria. I go through the lunch line and sit down at the table with my friends. They all look at me.
"What?" I ask.
"Nothing," they all say.
I start eating my food. The boys stand up.
"We promised Mrs.Johnson we'd help her stack the chairs in her classroom," Zeke says.
"We'll be right back," Uriah says, and they walk off. The girls scoot closer to me.
"So. Have you told Four your answer yet?" Shauna asks.
"No," I answer.
"Why not? Do you like him?" Marlene asks.
"Yes. I do like him," I reply.
"Then why haven't you told him yes?" Christina asks.
"Because I'm scared. I'm scared that what happened to me in the past, is going to happen again," I say with tears streaming down my face.
"But you know. Four would never hurt you," Christina says.
"I know. But I'm still scared. I've had the sweetest people turn on me. And I'm just scared it's going to happen again. And I'm scared that Four is going to get hurt in the process," I reply. I'm full on crying now. The boys sit down.
"What's wrong?" Four asks. I turn to Christina.
"I can't hurt him," I say and get up. I gather my stuff and run out of the cafeteria, crying.
"Tris!" I hear Four yell after me.
I ignore him and keep running. Four catches up to me and runs in front of me.
