The Enemy [1]

28: One Word

Today was prom night. I wasn't as nervous as you think I would be. Emma decided to do my hair. Sue was doing Arianna's hair. Nat was working on Thea's hair. Emma had finished with my makeup and hair so I decided to put on the dress. I smiled as I looked in the mirror. "We're ready!" Arianna said. I turned to see Arianna wearing a beautiful dark blue dress. (Dress in the middle) Her smile was wide. Her hair was curled and pulled back. Thea's dress was mint green (dress to the left) and her hair was pulled into a bun with a braid around the bun. My dress was tan with black designs (dress to the right) my raven black hair curled and pulled back almost like Arianna's.
"Wow" we all said at the same time. Emma, Nat and Sue couldn't help but laugh when we all said wow.
"The dates are here" JARVIS said cutting into the moment. I wished Alison was here.
"I need to do something" I said walking down the hallway and toward the elevator. I knew where everyone was but I needed to see one person. I pressed the button for the detention level. When the doors opened I walked in and stood in front of the cell where my father sat.
"Hello father" I said making his head snap up. He smiled sadly at me. I teleported into the cell and smiled at him. We both met each other in the middle and engulfed each other in a hug.
"You look amazing" he said smiling.
"Thank you" I said as he placed his hand softly on my cheek.
"Have fun tonight. And be careful. Be on alert" he said. I nodded to him and then teleported back to where Arianna and Thea were. They were in the elevator. Thea let out a yelp and started laughing.
"You scared the crap out of me" Thea said as Nat fixed my hair a little bit. When the door opened we walked out. Sue walked out and stood beside Reed. Johnny and Ben were talking about something and not paying attention. Thea walked out of the elevator first with a big smile. Flash stood in a tux with a big smile. I saw Peter standing beside Flash ignoring the glares that Steve and Johnny sent him. Arianna had agreed to go with some boy that I hadn't met. His name was Dylan. Arianna speed walked out of the elevator toward Dylan and pulled him into a hug. Nat and Emma walked out and aloud me to come into view. This was basically the first time I wore a dress. Johnny looked over at the elevator and nearly dropped the water bottle he had in his hand. Steve's mouth was open with shock. I walked out of the elevator and felt heat rise to my cheeks as I began to walk down the stairs. Thor smiled widely and pulled Emma close to him making her blush.
"Wow" I heard Steve, Johnny and Peter say at the same time. Tony smiled as well. I haven't talked to Tony in awhile since Alison's death. He probably thinks it's my fault. I wouldn't blame him if he thought that.
"You look... Wow" Peter said smiling as he took his hand in mine. In the corner of my eye I saw Steve's jaw tighten and Johnny glare at Peter. Johnny clenched his fist and I could see fire in his eyes.
"You don't look too bad yourself" I said as Thea smiled.
"Captain Raven" Thea coughed making me blush.
"Raven Torch" Emma coughed.
"Shut up" Arianna hissed.
After dodging the awkwardness, we all arrived at the school. Peter's hand was still in mine but I didn't feel happy about it. He was just my best friend. I guess Peter noticed the conflict I was having with myself. "If you ask me I think I ship Raven Torch" he said smiling.
"No!" Thea said, "Captain Raven!"
"I bet $30 that Johnny and Cap bet who will win" Arianna said.
"I bet $20 that Jade will pick Johnny" Peter said.
"$50 says she'll pick Steve" Thea said.
"Will you guys stop!" I said as I walked over to the desert table with Arianna. Maybe Peter and Thea should get together. I'd ship it. Arianna and Flash started talking as well, that made me smile. I decided the party was too much for me. I walked through the hallways and out into the lunch yard where I had my usual lunch with Peter. I sat down at a bench and took in the fresh air. I loved being outside.
"Hello Jade" I heard a familiar voice said. My eyes widened at the voice that I knew too well. I turned around quickly to see who I thought was dead.
"Y-you're dead" I said standing up.
"Am I?" He asked crossing his arms over his chest.
"You fell down the elevator shaft!" I said as he walked closer.
"Did you really think I was dead?" He asked, "and why would you want to kill the person who raised you."
"You're a lair, Adam" I hissed staring into his eyes.
"I've never seen you in a dress before" he said circling around me with a smirk.
"I wonder why" I growled as he quickly connected his hand with my cheek making it turn red. My hand flew to my cheek. Now I know why Loki warned me.
"I came to finish what I started" he said as he took a knife from his pocket. I stared at the blade with fear. The blade connected with my side where the scar was from the Winter Soldier. He pulled the blade out and it was covered in my crimson liquid. He caught me before I fell to the ground. He leaned close to my ear, his lips grazing the side.
"Hail Hydra" he whispered before letting go of me. I clutched my side as blood leaked out. Adam smiled wickedly before leaving the area. I coughed a little bit as the pain shot up through my body. The last thing I heard before blacking out was Peter calling my name.
Johnny's P.O.V
Me and Ben were playing cards as Steve and Tony were arguing about something random. I heard the elevator ding and I turned to see Peter. Jade's date. That made my blood boil. I should've been the one with Jade. But I shook the thought from my head when I saw he had blood on his hand.
"Hurry" he said as Thea and Arianna rushed up from the stairs. Thea rushed into the elevator and helped Peter pick up something. Jade. Peter carried her bridal style toward us.
"Oh my god!" I yelled running toward them. Blood leaked from a wound on Jade's side. I took Jade away from Peter and we all quickly went to the lab. Bruce was in there. Thea opened the door and I laid Jade on a bed. Blood was stained onto my hand. Jade's blood. Bruce grabbed a kit and Tony quickly grabbed a few things.
"She's losing blood!" Tony said.
"Everyone out! Thea get in here!" Bruce said. Thea rushed in a closed the door. I guess Bruce taught her a thing or two. I walked over to Peter and grabbed him by the collar of his tux and slammed him against the wall.
"What happened?" I asked as Steve tried to see past the curtain that blocked the door.
"I don't know! I went to check on her and she was on the ground. S-she was b-bleeding!" Peter said worriedly.
"It's a stab wound" Nat said trying to figure out who did this. Emma's mouth flew open with a shocked expression.
"What?" Arianna asked but then the thought went to Arianna, "it can't be! He's dead!"
"He's the only one that would be after Jade" Emma said as I released my grip on Peter's collar.
"Get out. And if I see you with your lips on Jade's, I will kill you" I said as I pushed him toward the elevator. Peter left in a hurry. Steve punched the wall and created a dent. I scoffed at the soldier.
"You can't like her" I said smiling.
"Why can't I?" He asked.
"Because you're a old man. She's 16. I'm close to her age" I said.
"Age doesn't matter" he said.
"She use to hate you" I said.
"She called you a player" he said as we were now in each other's faces.
"Will you two stop it! Jade likes both of you so shut up! You can't realize that she's stuck in the middle. She doesn't like the pressure. If you really like her then do something nice for her" Emma said catching mine and Steve's attention. Arianna smiled at Emma as me and Steve backed away from each other. The door opened and Thea walked out.
"She's okay. She'll wake up soon" Thea said smiling. I needed an idea to do something nice for Jade.
"I have an idea! What if we both take her out on separate dates and see who she chooses" I said and Steve nodded.
"Deal!" Steve said shaking my hand with a smile. I know I'll win.
