The Enemy [1]

3: Trust, huh?

I walked down stairs from a good nights sleep. Then I checked the time realizing it was 3:00 am in the morning. I walked into the kitchen and poured myself a glass of water. I felt as if someone was watching me so I turned in my heel to see that Cap was out of the handcuffs. He held a water bottle in one hand and then he had an arm around a certain 10 year old. Alison.
"He wanted some water" Alison said with a smile.
"You're lucky I'm tired" I said, "and as for you, Alison, get your butt to bed."
"Yes ma'am" Alison said saluting to me as she marched to the stairs making me roll my eyes. I drank the rest of my milk and then tossed the cup into the sink.
"Sorry. I asked her if I could have some water and she just took the key and unlocked it" he said raising his hands in surrender.
"I have a guest bedroom upstairs. I think it would be more comfortable than the floor" I said crossing my arms over my chest. I'm surprised he didn't do anything yet. Maybe he was planning something. I lead him upstairs and to the guest bedroom that was beside Alison's.
Third Person P.O.V
The Avengers, except Steve, and the Fantastic Four sat at the conference table. Nick had called them in. "Rogers didn't return last night. He had information we didn't know about the Raven. Even Sam doesn't know where he went" Nick said as Natasha clenched her fist under the table.
"Yet he has a tracking device in his helmet" Sam said crossing his arms over his chest.
"First we send out Romanoff and Barton. If Steve isn't found in that area then we send out Stark, Mr Storm, Richards, and Grim. If it turns bad then it's a code green" Nick said.
"Yes, sir" Natasha said as her and Barton exited the room. Johnny stood up and smiled.
"I can't believe it! I'll get to meet the Raven! This will be soooooo cool!" Johnny said smiling ear to ear. Susan rolled her eyes as her brother left the room. Ben chuckled at Johnny's actions.
Jade's P.O.V
I heard a loud noise from down stairs and I immediately thought of Cap. I changed into the black cat suit and put on my mask and braided my hair. I grabbed my knife and gun. I walked to Steve's room and pushed it open to see that he was awake And was already headed to the door.
"You heard it too?" He asked in a whisper. I walked back to my room and grabbed his shield.
"Here" I whispered giving him his shield. Steve pointed to Alison's room and told me to stay guard. I nodded as he slowly walked down the stairs.
"Never scare us like that" said a female voice.
"Did you find the Raven?" A male voice asked. I opened Alison's door and walked inside. I shook her awake and opened her window that lead to an escape route to the attic. She crawled out of bed and I helped her out the window. I climbed out and closed the window quietly. She climbed up the ladder first and opened the window to the attic. I climbed up after her and helped her inside. I climbed in and then closed the window.
"What happened?" She asked in a whisper as she sat on a box.
"Two of the other Avengers showed up" I whispered as I stayed by the window, "Alison, hide somewhere just in case." Alison walked over to crates that were stacked high but not too high. I heard something bang on the attic door. I aimed my gun at the door waiting for whoever would open it.
"Don't hurt them" I heard Steve say. Why would he care?
"Captain you've had a hard day why don't you not worry if this kid gets hurt. Plus she's the enemy Cap" the other male voice said. Anger bubbled up inside me and I shot at the door multiple times giving away our hiding spot. The door was kicked open and Clint Barton stood there with an arrow ready.
"Don't take another step" I hissed aiming at Bird Brain.
"Give up, Jade. There's no way of getting out of this" Clint said. I felt tears threaten to spill. Alison whimpered in the corner making me turn around to see that there was a spider on the crate. An arrow whistled past my ear causing a small scratch. I shot at him multiple times causing him to fall down but it didn't kill him. I backed away from the door and over to Alison. I gently grabbed her arm and pulled her toward the window. I pointed my gun at the attic door just in case if anyone else decided to come up. I opened the window and looked down to see Steve climbing out.
"Back away, Rogers!" I said.
"I won't let them hurt you" He said.
"Well they already have" I said as The Black Widow walked up stairs with her gun pointed at me. I put my gun in my pocket and stared at her.
"Let go of the kid" she ordered.
"She's my friend" Alison said defending me. Natasha looked confused. While she was thinking I rushed at her and ducked when she fired. Alison scrabbled out the window and down the ladder. I pushed Natasha down the stairs giving me time. I climbed down the ladder and then climbed down the other ladder and landed in alley. Alison and me took off in sprint. We were going to get away. We turned the corner and kept running faster and faster. I looked up and saw Iron Man soaring above. I pulled Alison down an alley.
"Listen to me: run to the old Quinn mansion then hide in the bedroom upstairs" I said and she nodded. She took off running. I'd meet her there. I turned to see a certain Hot Head.
"Hi sweetheart" he said with a smirk.
"Playboy" I said smiling under my mask.
"Such an honor to meet you" he said crossing his arms over his chest. Okay I will admit he is cute.
"Sure it is" I said using my telekinesis and pushed him against the wall.
"You wanna play, okay let's play" he said lighting himself on fire. I broke out into a sprint as he flew above me. I ran along the concrete as my boots made a pounding noise on the hard ground. I kept running faster and faster as the Hot Head got closer. I ran as fast as I could trying to lose this pain they call the Human Torch. He looked a lot like Steve. I turned and used my telekinesis to make him fall to the ground. I continued to run but with I turned I slammed into something hard. I looked up to see that thing... What do they call it? Oh yeah, The Thing!
"Oh I'm gonna enjoy this" he said his voice raspy as he clapped his stone hands together causing dust and sand to fall to the ground. He got ready for a fight but I didn't give it to him. All I did was run full force at him then slid under his legs then stood up and kept running. I was faster than him. I out smarted them easily. Then I felt something wrap around my stomach. Rubber. Mr Fantastic himself! I tried to wiggle free but he had a firm grip. Without a warning I kicked him where it hurts but it probably wouldn't phase him since he is made of rubber. But he let go and held his groin area. Then I saw something in the corner of my eye. Cap's shield. I turned and caught the shield before it hit me. I stared at Steve with hurt in my eyes.
"Trust, huh?" I asked before throwing his shield back to him. I easily slipped away when he looked at his shield. I hid in the shadows and waited for a while.
"Nice job, Rogers. You let her get away" Stark said.
"Well I won't let her slip away next time we find her" Steve said with determination clearly in his voice. That lier, he's such a jerk. I can't believe I started to trust him. Once they all left I took off my mask and undid my hair. I hope Alison was okay.
Alison's P.O.V
I ran as fast as I could hoping to get away. I was almost at Quinn Mansion. Then a man in gold and red armor landed in front of me. "Mrs George" he said in a robotic voice.
"Mr Stark" I said crossing my arms, "where's Jade?"
"She got away" he said, "I suppose you know where she's headed."
"I don't" I said with a smile. And with ease I quickly whistled and Razor jumped out of nowhere and pushed Iron Man to the ground.
"I wouldn't tell you anyway" I said before me and Razor took off running in a different direction. I hid in the shadows watching as Iron Man got up and scanned the area then he took off.
"Alison!" I heard someone whisper yell and I turned to see Jade without her mask on and her hair down. I ran to her and hugged her tightly. I couldn't wait to get out of this mess. We walked into the old mansion through the back door. It wasn't as old as you would think. It was just abandon. Razor stood by and stuck his nose to the ground sniffing the floor. I followed Jade down the old carpeted stairs to the basement where we hid most of our supplies if something like this ever happened. Jade lit a small lantern and I noticed two sleeping bags and pillows. There were bags of clothes and food to the side. Jade opened my bag of clothes and threw a sweatshirt and jeans at me. I put on the clothes and sat on the sleeping bag as she unzipped her catsuit showing her pale back and bra strap. She grabbed a shirt and put it on then took off the rest of the catsuit. She then put on sweatpants. She sat on her sleeping bag and grabbed a bag of marshmallows, peanut butter and Oreos. I scooted over to her and hugged her. She tensed at first but then wrapped her arms around me and pulled me into a hug. I snuggled into her side and she played with my hair.
"I promise nothing will hurt you" she said quietly as she continued to play with my hair very soothingly. She never wants anyone to hurt me. Every time I'm with her I feel safe and protected. If only Adam didn't give information to SHIELD, we could still be at the safe house in front of the fire place drinking hot chocolate with Razor curled at our feet. I hoped everything would be okay. I hope SHIELD will never find us. Jade continued to play with my hair.
"I'll never let anyone hurt you, Alison. If someone does hurt you.... I will hunt them down" she said smiling ear to ear.
"I know you will" I mumbled as I laid my head in her lap and fell asleep as she rubbed my back soothingly. Everything would be okay. Right? Jade would keep them away from us and keep them off our track. I never knew this would happen. Adam gave them information about us and I felt so betrayed. I couldn't believe it that he gave information to SHIELD. He knew Jade was the Raven now. Maybe that's why he gave them the information. Maybe he didn't trust us anymore. Maybe he'd run to us and tell us he was sorry. He'd hug us and make sure we were safe. I heard something from upstairs because Jade sat up and mocked me off of her. She grabbed her gun and walked toward the door. She pointed her gun at something.
"Who are you?" She asked.
"I think my name is James Buchanan Barns"
