My Best Friend Rejected Me

Getting Ready

Kat's POV

I got out of the shower and saw that Kris was sleeping on my bed. He must have come back, while I was still in the shower, and fell asleep. I took the opportunity and snuck up to him, I climbed into the bed and screamed in his face. He jumped up and took a protective stance in front of me. Meanwhile I was laughing my ass off. He turned to me and glared.

"Don't do that. You scared the shit out of me Kat." He said and I was laughing so hard I was crying. "Come on lets just get you ready for school." He said which made me stop laughing and run over to the makeup area we set up when we were 13. Yes, he has been helping me get ready since I was 13.

He did my hair while I worked on my makeup. After that we went to the closet and picked out an outfit. I got a black tank-top with a broken heart on it, and some torn faded black jeans. Kris got black combat boots with spikes and some black tights to cover the skin that would be showing through the holes in my jeans. We then ate some breakfast and I grabbed my leather jacket and we were out the door headed for school. This was going to be greeeeeeat! *Note the sarcasm*

We got to the school and as usual the popular kids were waiting in the doorway. They were shocked at my appearance and my entrance, I never ride with Kris to school because I didn't want him to see what I go through everyday but today I might meet my mate and I don't want him to see me beaten up. The popular group soon got over their shock and looked as mean as ever. 

"Lets go." Kris said glaring at the people killing me in their minds, who just happened to be his group of friends. I always avoided hanging out with Kris when he was with them and he always asked me why but I didn't tell him. His friends would probably hate him if they knew he was friends with me. I slowly started walking to the entrance but I guess they didn't think it was fast enough so they met me half way.

"Hey guys, I'm not sure if you have met but this is Katherine, she's-" They ignored him and walked straight up to me and punched me in the face. Kris stood there  for a minute but quickly snapped back and as soon as he saw what was happening to me his wolf took over and he beat the shit out of all of them.

When he finished his friends were on the ground out cold. Kris came up to me and helped me up. "Are you okay?" He asked and I stood there for a minute stunned. When I zoned back in I thought that I felt a few sparks traveling up my arm but thought it was probably just asleep. "K-Kat?" He asked waving his hand in my face.

"Oh, yeah. Sorry that was just- Uhh, surprising." I replied not really sure how to reply.

There was a short silence before he asked "Does...that happen often?" I tensed up. I figured he would ask that and I am usually a really good liar but I could never seem to lie to him.

"N-no, I mean not really just..sometimes. They don't usually go for my face though. Most of the time it's somewhere I could hide." I realized I said usually and mentally cursed myself.

"Usually means it happens often Kat." Kris said. I took a peek at him and he was clenching and unclenching his jaw, I also noticed his eyes were flashing black which means his wolf wanted free. That was weird but I decided not to ask. "Is that why you would never accept my offer to drive you to school? Because of them?" He asked balling his fists.

"Y-yeah." I said shyly and he looked at me sadly.

"I'm sorry I never did anything to help you. I should have noticed it-" He was saying when the second wave of populars came out and was walking up to me. Suddenly Kris was in front of me growling at them. They took a step back but still looked pissed as they noticed their buddies lying on the ground behind us.

"What the hell man? Why are you protecting the weakling?" One of them said and stared to shove past him to me. Kris grabbed me around the waist and pulled me close to him.

I immediately felt the sparks and he growled at him louder and more aggressively until he backed up. "Mine" he said threateningly after they were a good distance away from us. I looked up at Kris with love but also hurt. He didn't tell me, which means he didn't want me to know. And that means he doesn't want me. He looked down at me after the group of populars went to class. His eyes were filled with love but I could see the little hint of regret buried beneath them.

He loosened his grip on me and was about to speak when I took off in the other direction. I heard his feet hitting the ground behind me. He was close. I shifter into my wolf and took off. I'd always been faster than him even though he was the the alpha's son. He was going to reject me, his best friend! I kept repeating in my head as I was running toward the forest.

Hey guys, sorry for the super duper late update but I have been reading the HoN series by Kristen Cast and P.C. Cast. I have also ordered like 7 books from B&N and that might take some time to read but I promise I will make sure to keep updating. Lets say if I get a comment and a star I will update sooner. Also the HoN novels are done and I was wanting to know who all has read them, and would maybe want me to make a continued version. I was thinking of a few ideas but I really liked three of them and was hoping you could help me out. I could either do a continuation, a Future lives version,  or Next Generation. I really like Future lives because Heath would be back but I still love the possibilities of the other two. Alright, thanks for the patience and I will update as soon as you want :) Bye guys!
