I dressed up well, I hope. I looked into the mirror, and for once in a long time, I actually thought I looked good. It was a foreign feeling because I hadn't dressed up in a long time. I really hoped that Oliver would like the way I looked. I mean, his previous arm candies raised the bar so high up that even Nate couldn't even grab it doing salmon ladders, there's a fitness joke for you.
"Where're you headed looking so dolled up?," Nate got up from the sofa when he saw me coming down the staircase, "You know it's unsafe to walk around the Glades looking like that."
"That's why I'm not going to be at the Glades," I breathe out, smoothening the wrinkles off my dress.
"Where're you headed off then?," he asks, being highly observant.
"I have a date," I smile, checking myself in the mirror a couple times, then turning towards Nate, "What do you think?"
"I think, if the man touches my baby sister, an unexpected fire is going to start at his house," Nate's eyes start turning darker.
"Tone down the glow-sticks, Nate," I poke fun at his eyes, and in response, his eyes turn lighter and he begins to chuckle.
"Can I at least meet this guy?"
"No," I quickly respond, then realizing I had responded too quickly, "I mean, I want to be trusted and I don't want my disapproving brother instill fear in a guy that may stay."
"Alright," he says, giving in, "But I don't like the idea."
Knock. Knock. Knock.
"I guess you have no choice now, Speedy Gonzalez," I peck is forehead and walk to the door, "Bye."
"Be safe," he calls before I step out of the house, closing the door behind me.
"Wow," Oliver stands stunned in front of me, "You look gorgeous."
"You don't look too bad yourself," I smile, leaning in to place a small kiss on his cheek.
"So," he started, crooking his elbow and allowing me to loop my arm around it, "I was thinking about taking you to C'est La Vie, how does that sound?"
"Did you know that a dinner for two people there costs our whole rent," I chuckle, making his cheeks tint red.
"I-I didn't know, I-I—."
"I'm just pulling your leg, Oliver," I laugh, trying really hard not to choke at my vigorous laughing, "I'd love to go there."
"Ladies first, then," he motioned towards the door of his car, opening it for me. I smile, shyly, and scoot in. He then runs around the car and takes his place in the backseat as well. "Sam, this is my friend and teammate, John Diggle."
"Nice to meet you," he turns around from the driver's seat and shakes my hand.
"Likewise," I reply, shaking his hand back.
*~*~*~*~*~*
"I'm having a wonderful time here, Oliver," I smile, eating the chocolate truffle in front of me. Suddenly I notice Tommy and Laurel waving towards us and my mood just switches right off, "Hey, Oliver, they're waving at us."
"Hey, guys, come eat with us," Oliver hauls them over, getting me more than agitated. I mean, they are his friends, and that's awesome, but tonight was supposed to be our night.
"Hey there, guys," Laurel smiled, "Didn't expect you to be here, what a coincidence."
"Hello, Laurel," he gets up, giving her a warm embrace. Something told me that Oliver and Laurel were more than just friends once, mainly because when we were at the club's opening, the night that I discovered Oliver was the Hood, I had read her mind.
