"I'm going up to my room," Connor declares, picking up his bow but leaving the arrows behind.
Oliver looks at Connor with such pride, but I can't help to think why, he obviously doesn't know.
"About his father being proud of him, trust me," Oliver says, making me and my dad look at him, "I am proud of him."
"Ollie—," I start.
"He's my son, and you didn't tell me?," Oliver asks, hurt evident in his voice.
"Oliver, I was trying to keep him safe," I argue, "He was in danger when he was in a place like Star City and his father being the Star City vigilante. It's been hard, Oliver, having to tell Connor that his father'll be coming back but that I don't know when."
"Sam—," my father starts.
"Not now, dad," I hush him.
"Why don't you tell him that I'm his father, why don't you tell him the truth?," Oliver asks, getting slightly louder.
"Sam," my dad repeats, but is shut down my me again.
"What am I supposed to say? 'Hey, Connor, Oliver Queen, a.k.a The Green Arrow, is your father, not to mention that your mother was the Sorceress and your uncle's Catalyst. Did I also forget to tell you that your grandfather tried to wipe out an entire race?'. Is that what I'm supposed to say?"
"Sam!," he shouts and this time I look at my dad.
"What?," I shout back.
My dad extends his finger and points to the top of the staircase, where Connor is standing there, chest heaving. His eyes are welling as he's holding the rail for support.
"Oh, no," I mutter, running up the staircase, holding him in my arms, "Honey, I'm sorry."
"Mommy," he whispers, "is he really my dad?"
"He is, sweetheart," my eyes brimming with tears, "He is."
"Is he really the Green Arrow?," he mutters.
"Yes, honey." At this point, I really couldn't lie to him anymore.
"A-And grandpa tried to clean a racing competition?," he asks, furrowing his dark blonde eyebrows. I guess he couldn't understand the concept of 'wiping out a race', but I wasn't complaining. It was better that way.
"How about you go and hug your dad?," I suggest, getting up an walking down the stairs while holding his hand.
Connor lets my hand go and runs down the stairs, stopping in front of Oliver. Oliver's eyes are filled with tears to this point as he wraps his arms around Connor's little body and lifts him up.
"You know what we have to do now?," my dad asks.
"Yeah," I nod, letting out a few tears.
"We have to go back to Star City for a while," Oliver finishes.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*
"I can't do this, Oliver," I panic, holding Connor's hand, and waiting outside the basement door of Oliver's mayoral office.
Oliver moved us into the elevator shaft, "You're going to be fine."
I let out a shaky breath as the elevator stopped descending and the doors open to reveal Thea, Diggle, Laurel, Nate, and Felicity. Their eyes widen, noticing me.
"I know," I start, "I'm sorry for leaving, I didn't mean to hurt you guys. I—."
I was immediately attacked by Nate, his huge arms wrapping around me, holding me close to his body. I let go of Connor's hand and hug Nate back.
