"How was school kiddo?" My dad smiled when I walked in.
"Fine." I shrugged, immediately deciding to leave out the whole Ana thing. "How was your day?"
"Well," he sighed, dropping his smile completely. "I heard from your mother. She'll be coming in tomorrow. I'd like you to stay home from school to prepare. I'll be taking the rest of the week off from work, you'll go back to school Thursday under the impression you were sick. Nobody needs to know about your mother, understood? I don't want to hae to move you again."
"Yes sir." I sighed, biting the inside on my lip. "What time does she come in?"
"Around noon or so." He smiled, returning to the normal dad I know.
"Can I go out tonight then?" I shrugged, stuffing my hands in my pockets nervously.
"With whom?" He grinned, raising an eyebrow.
"Jc Caylen."I blushed.
"I assume this is a date?"
"No sir, just two friends hanging out."
"Well I'd like to meet him before you go tonight."
"i'll be sure to arrange that." I beamed before excusing myself.
Wait, my dad meeting Jc? Uh oh... Then again maybe it won't be too bad. I hope.
Speak of the devil though, I laughed to myself. Of course Jc could be calling.
"Hello?" I picked up.
"Hey there gorgeous," I could hear him chuckle slightly. "you still want to do something tonight?"
"Of course, but one condition."
"What's that?"
"You meet my dad." I winced as the words fell out. Not that I don't want him to meet my dad, it's just a little too soon for my liking.
"Yeah, that sounds great." He said, after hesitating. "Where should we go?"
"Well let's see, what's there to do on a Tuesday?"
"We could catch a movie?"
"You're picking." I laughed. I was terrible at picking a good movie.
"Fine. Be ready in an hour."
With our plans set in place, I headed up to my room. What am I supposed to wear? Is this a date? Of course this isn't a date, he probably just wants to hang out. Right? But he broke up with her for me, sorta, right? Selena why are you talking to yourself if your head?
"Because I'm a weirdo why else!" I shouted, throwing my hands up into the air. "Besides I always talk to myself, I'm the only person that listens to me. Now Selena what do we wear? It's kinda cool outside, and it'll only get colder since the suns going down, and knowing you you'll be freezing. What about that thin gray longsleeve with the v-cut, dark skinny jeans and Jc's sweater? No...wait, yes! It'll say I'm interested because I'm wearing his clothes, but I'm considerate because if he wants it back, I have a shirt. Brilliant." I laughed and began changing. Once I was dressed and almost ready to go, I laid on my bed and began listening to music for maybe half an hour before I needed to finish up. "Leave your hair straight, and down, and take your black cross body!"
"Are you talking to yourself?" A voice chuckled in my doorway.
"Oh my gosh Jc!" I jumped, falling off my bed.
"Sorry!" he called, rushing over to help me up. "I didn't mean to scare you. Your dad let me in, said you were here and well now I'm here." He finished with a light nervous chuckle.
"You met my dad already?" My eyes grew wide.
"Sorta, he seems nice. Asked me a few questions, we talked a bit too. I think he likes me." He grinned.
"Questions?"
"Just where we were going, how old I am, school stuff, just the usual parent questions."
"So I'm assuming you've done this a lot?" I smiled teasingly.
"Actually, never." He shrugged, shoving his hands in his pockets.
"Oh. well then um thanks."
"Don't mention it, but we better go, it starts soon and your dad wants you home by 10." He grinned.
"Of course." I grinned. I was just excited to be with Jc.
"Bye Mr. Ramos!" Jc called up to my dad.
"Bye kids have fun! It was nice to meet you Jc!" My dad bellowed back from his office.
Once outside I burst into a fit of laughter.
"What's so funny?" Jc question once we both got into his car, which now smelled like vanilla, my favorite.
"My dad likes you. He never likes anybody, it's just funny." I shrugged, buckling my seat belt as I felt the car start moving.
"Nobody? Ever?"
"Remember Alex?"
"The guy you're hung up on." He sighed, a look of uneasyness fell on his face.
"Was hung up on. But anyways yeah him. He met my dad and right away my dad wanted me to break up with him, and at that point we weren't dating yet, so it was just like this but he likes you."
"So we're not dating, yet?" Jc grinned.
"Yet." I smiled back. "What movie are we seeing again?"
"World War Z. Starts at 5:30 it'll end ends close to 8 depending on the previews, that leaves us around 2 hours to hang out, I figured we could go to Bass Pro get some fudge and talk." He beamed.
"You like having things planned don't you?"
"I like seeing you in my sweater, and seeing you smile along with seeing you in general."
"That didn't answer my question" I blushed.
"I like being prepared, with a few back up plans if necessary so yeah I guess I do." he shrugged, taking his eyes off the road for a second to smile at me before facing back.
*~*
"That movie was so sick!" I exclaimed, walking out of the theater.
"What was your favorite part?" Jc smirked.
"Probably the end, when they were in the lab. What about you?"
"When you jumped, and grabbed my hand." He grinned, picking up my hand and intertwining our fingers.
"Yeah, I liked that too." I blushed, swinging our arms slightly. "Where to now Captain Caylen?"
" Let's walk over to Bass."
Without another word, we started walking across the parking lot of the theater, and into the parking lot of Bass Pro.
"So what do you like to do in your free time?" Jc spoke up.
"Mostly sing, or dance, or play sports. I haven't had much free time lately though. What about you?"
"I um, post videos on YouTube. Weekly." He shrugged, seeming embarrassed.
"Really? Like in a collab channel or by yourself?"
"Both. My main channel is the more popular one. The collab just started, it's called Our Second Life." He beamed.
"I always wanted to start a channel, never had the guts too. I just watch."
"Who's your favorite?"
"Probably Trevor Moran, he's just so ballsy for a kid."
"Yeah. He is. He's a cool kid though, crazy to hang out with."
"You know him?"
"He's our Friday."
"Oh. Well that's cool. Wait Jc the entrance is there." I stopped, and pointed towards the door we had just walked passed.
"I know. Come on." He smiled, grabbing my hand and pulling me towards a flight of stairs I hadn't noticed.
After climbing a few small sets if stairs, we stopped at the top of what looked like a pier. A small man-made lake flowed beneath us.
"This is pretty." I smiled, leaning against the wooded railing.
"Just like you." Jc grinned, leaning in next to me.
"It's dark, cold, and kind of scary, but I like this. Just being with you." I chuckled, leaning onto his shoulder.
"Yeah, me too, babe."
