I ran into my room and powered up my MacBook. I knew it would be a little bit until Jc called but I couldn't help it, I was excited!
A few minutes passed and I decided to start working on an essay that would be due soon. Of course the shrill ring blared right when I started.
"You have impeccable timing Justin." I laughed once his face popped up onto my screen.
"Sorry." He flashed a grin. "God I've missed you."
"And I've missed you. A lot." I smiled back.
"So how's Cali?" He shrugged.
"It's fine. Weather's great, nice scenery. We live in Laguna Nigel, the beach is pretty much down the street." I shrugged back, trying to remove the sadness from my words. "I miss Texas though."
"What?" Jc exclaimed. "You live in Cali-Freaking-Fornia! I'd kill to be out there." He waved his arms in the air.
"Honestly I haven't really been out much to enjoy it yet." I chuckled.
"Why not?" His eyebrows furrowed. "You should be living the life, going to the beach every day, going to parties, meeting boys." He shrugged
"I've just been sad I guess. I miss Texas." I sighed. "I miss Gina, and Kian, Andrea and Sam. And you."
"Me? Why me? You shouldn't."
"Yet I do."
A small silence occurred before I could hear Jc's mom calling him in the background.
"I've gotta run." He chuckled.
"I'll talk to you later?" I shrugged, giving him a grin.
"Later." He flashed a smile and disconnected.
Seconds later my phone vibrated. A snapchat from none other than Jc popped up. His smile wide, eyes happy, and arms shrugged. The caption read "I miss you already, babe." I laughed before snapping a picture of myself copying his stance with "Miss you too love bug." written across it. I felt my cheeks flush red once I hit send. Something about this boy made me weak in the knees, and I loved it.

Tuesday rolled around, my parents arrived home in the morning long before I woke up. The previous night had been spent on iChat with Jc, as had the nights before.
Rubbing my eyes I looked at my laptop in front of me. Jc had disconnected when he had to go to school, yet I could still see his sleepy smile vividly.
"Selena?" I heard before a knock on my door. "Are you up?"
"Yeah I'm up." I called, climbing out of bed to open my door.
"Oh good. Your mother's leaving. Come say goodbye." My dad half smiled.
Right. She was leaving again, another movie or something.
Goodbye's were quick. It was the usual hug and get shoved to the side deal.
Once her car pulled away I hugged my dad, tight. I knew it was hard on him, he loved her more than anything, but she had no problem just leaving.
He retreated to his room where he'd stay for a few hours, like he always did.
The rest of the day went by slowly. I finished most of my schoolwork. Just one more course and I'd have my diploma.
Dinner was an awkward silence. Dad seemed to know something I didn't.
Sooner than I expected, I found myself in the shower preparing for bed. The warm water hit my back as I thought about what could be going on. To my disappointment I couldn't figure it out.
Just as I crawled into bed, the usual ring chimed from my laptop.
"Hi honey." I answered with a smile.
"Hey pumpkin," Jc beamed. "I missed you."
"I missed you too! Today was so weird." I sighed.
"Tell me about it?" He yawned.
"You're tired, it's okay we can just go to bed." I smiled, trying to be convincing.
"Nope! I'm up. Wishbone's taking up most of my bed anyway. I want to hear what's bugging you."
"It's nothing."
"Babe." He said sternly. "You can talk to me about anything, it's something. I can see it in your eyes."
"My mom left today. My dad was sadder than usual. He hasn't said a word since she left, I'm just worried." I shrugged.
"You don't think..." He trailed off, looking somewhere off screen.
"Think what?"
"I don't know. My mom was like that once." He sighed.
"When your dad left." I pressed my lips tightly together. "It could be possible."
"I doubt it though. Your mom's just gone a lot? I'm sure he's just sad." He smiled, trying to reassure me.
"Can we just go to sleep?" I smiled. "I'm tired."
"Anything the princess wants." Jc laughed. "Goodnight dear." He grinned and tucked himself into bed.
"Goodnight sugar." I giggled, following suit.
I watched as his eyes fluttered shut. Before I knew it, soft snores erupted from Jc. His lips parted slightly every time he exhaled. After taking in his cuteness for a few minutes I too found myself falling asleep.
"Good morning gorgeous." I heard Jc say. My eyes opened slowly, expecting to see Jc's sleepy self on my computer screen. Only he wasn't there.
"Jc?" I called out sleepily.
"Yeah?" He replied.
My head spun in the direction of the door.
"Holy shit!" I screamed, nearly falling out of bed.
