Chapter 23: Catch Me

Keep it sweet, keep it slow

Let the future pass and don't let go

But tonight I could fall too soon into this beautiful moonlight

But you're so hypnotizing

You've got me laughing while I sing

You've got me smiling in my sleep

And I can see this unraveling…

I finished with Demi in the park and walked back home as mom was finishing dinner. I grabbed a couple rolls instead of eating and went upstairs to get changed. I didn’t realize Jack was already here until I walked downstairs and saw him in the living room talking with my dad. They turned their heads when they heard me coming down the stairs.

“Hi,” I smiled.

Jack smiled, “Hi.”

“I was just meeting Jack here,” dad said.

“When did he get here?”

“Not long,” Jack interrupted, “Only a few minutes.”

“Okay good.”

“Ready to go?” Jack asked me.

I nodded, “Yeah I’m ready.”

“Be back by 11,” dad told me.

“I will,” I told him back.

“Good girl.”

I walked out the door and Jack helped me into his car.

“So where are we going?” I asked him.

“I thought we could just go to a restaurant in town and have dinner. I didn’t want to go to anything fancy and I figured you didn’t either.”

“You’re right,” I chuckled, “That sounds great.”

“Good, so is the diner okay?”

I nodded, “I haven’t been there in a long time.”

“Good. Your parents seemed nice.”

“Yeah my parents are great. What about yours? I haven’t heard anything about your family.”

“They’re just your typical family.”

“Do you have any siblings?”

“Yes, a brother.”

“Older or younger?”

“Older. He’s in college.”

“That’s cool,” I said. “So you have someone to look up to.”
