Chapter 7 The Haunted Adventure: Secret of the Mansion
Paul's POV
"Wait, so your going on a vacation without us?!" Alejandra screeched through the phone.
Emily and I winced at the sharpness in her voice. "Uh, yeah sort of." Emily answered for me.
"What the hell?! That's all messed up you guys!" Esteban yelled through Alejandra's phone.
"Well, we were going to tell you yesterday but you guys were "sick" so you we weren't able to give you the news." I told them.
"You could have called us." Alejandra said.
"My phone died." Emily answered.
"You could have charged it!" She shot back.
"Who cares? Go have fun in your mini vacation! We deserved it for not coming to school." Esteban said.
"We're really sorry." Emily said.
"It's fine." Alejandra said and the line went dead.
She hung up? What happened to "It's our fault"?
Seriously.
"Well let's go!! We don't want to miss the ride!" I said.
"All right then!" Emily said jumping in glee.
Pennsylvania
"You know... This wasn't quite what I was expecting." I said truthfully.
I as a matter of fact was not expecting this. We were in a very creepy part of town where mostly no people were at.
Emily shivered in fear and cold.
"Wait, don't tell me your scared!!" I said looking at Emily in disbelief.
She glared at me. "No! I'm not scared!" She argued crossing her arms.
I raised my eyebrow but shrugged.
We walked around trying to sense a presence of any type of monsters.
So far, so good. I felt a drop of water fall on my cheek... Wait, water?
I looked up and gray clouds filled the sky and more drops of water fell.
It continued until it started to pour on us.
"Oh, great now it's raining!!" Emily said trying to use me as a shield.
I looked around for any sigh of refuge. "Hey!! We can take shelter there!" I said.
Emily looked through the rain and saw what I mentioned.
Her eyes widened. It looked like a haunted mansion.
I ran towards it dragging Emily. She seemed paralyzed with fear.
We climbed the stairs it but by the time we reached the front door we were absolutely soaked.
I knocked on the door three times and waited patiently for some kind butler or maid to open it.
But instead it opened on it's own. This puzzled me because I didn't sense anything and nobody was there to greet us.
"Did that door just open on it's own?" Emily asked completely terrified.
"Yeah, don't worry about it and let's go inside." I said smiling and I pulled Emily inside.
The doors shut behind us and a cloak of darkness surrounded the room.
