Okay hi im the author.
If you're a cliche author your probably feeling pretty roasted by now, but you know what! every author has to be cliche, to an extent.
Some cliches are good and some unavoidable.
Theres literally so much cliches in this day and age that we need to accept some amount of cliches.
Take note that these are for authors primarily focused on romance/teen fiction.
                              CLICHES THAT ARE OKAY
                              1. Bad boys and hot guys. They're seriously fine. Its one of the unavoidable clichés. Everyone loves a bad boy so why not. Just make them each different (for eg; if you write mulitple books boy No. 1 can have srs sex obsession issues and be real jokey. Boy No. 2 can have idk um 'hanging with the wrong intimidating crowd' type dude and have serious attitude problems..) you dont want repeats of the same old guy in different characters.
                              2. Abusive ex boyfriends do come up often in cliche books but as long as you do it illustrate it properly and dont just put the character in there jusy for the mere sake of the bad boy having a reason to bash someone to protect the main character. Dont do it, it does my head in.
                              3. Sure if you want girls chucking themselves at the guy its alright but for gods sake dont rub it in our faces. We get it his hot but you could show it in other ways ie; through the main characters eyes and i mean in other way other than saying omg his so hot (except that is okay sometimes) or otherwise you could leave it to the readers imagination.
                              CLICHES THAT ARE NOT OKAY
                              1. Arranged marriage plot. My friend is currently doing one though and its hilariously funny. So if your doing a hilariously funny book you're aloud to use any cliché ever so long as its hilarious af.
                              2. Don't let the main character get like bashed/raped okay? Thats seriously not cool. Unless its a massive part of your book and reloves hugely around the storyline of your actual book then its okay. Also no details on the rape either.
Yeah i cant think of any more but if theres any more ill add it in. Thanks dude and dudettes.
