(Christian)

Every summer since I can remember this has been tradition. We have had the house here since before I was born. Being here brought back memories I did not want to remember and having Sophie here like this made everything so much worse. Last time I was here my parents were still with me and now both of our parents are missing and she is just plain ignoring me. I wish I knew why.

For this trip she has literally been glued to that mentor of hers. Why can’t she just tell me what is wrong? Women.

“Are you ready?” Dina asked from the other side of my door.

“Yeah, you can come in.” It was easy to be friends with Dina. She understood me in ways no one had in a while. She really did love my parents and well, I have always wanted a sister.

“You okay?” She asked when she entered the room. I am pretty sure I looked like a mess. I had black jeans, a blue dress shirt, my favorite watch in my right wrist and black dress shoes. I had done my best but I was sure my hair was all over the place and so where my thoughts. “You need to focus. You can’t get . It could be deadly.”

“I know. I’ll be okay.” I did have to control this. This is what I am good at, controlling emotions, sensations, yet here I am not even able to control my own. “I just have to talk to her.” Maybe if I talk to her it can make me calm down. Maybe we can actually clear the air or something. I don’t know. I just miss her. I want to see her.

“I don’t think that is the best idea Christian. You need to be at your best tonight. You can’t just risk it like that. Stick to the plan.” The plan. The plan based on the fact that the locket brought me here. That could mean anything. Maybe he had been here just once when he had the locket. It did not mean anything.

I walked over to the door making up my mind. Yes, If I talked to her it will make me feel better. Ease up my mind a little.

“Christian please don’t do this.” I heard Dina say as I exited down the hall but it was too late for her. I was doing this. I would do it. As I got closer to her door someone started approaching me from the opposite way. I cursed under my breath. Did this guy have nothing better to do? He was getting on my nerves.

“Christian,” he nodded towards me and stopped right in front of Sophie’s door blocking my way in.

“Travis.” I responded coldly. Did he really think he could stop me like this. He truly can’t be this delusional.

“Why are you here?” He asked expectantly. I rolled my eyes annoyed. Who does he think he is. I walked closer to the door and attempted a knock, Travis stopped me half way though.

“Excuse me?” I asked distraught. He must know that if I loose my temper it won’t be pretty.

“That is not a good idea Christian. Just let her be. That would be the best thing.” He wasn’t moving.

“Don’t tell me what to do Travis and get out of my way.” I stood  straight. He would have to move or I would make him move.

“Christian please...”

“Get out of my way.” I said with finality reaching again for the door.

“No.” He cut me off again.

“No?” I asked in disbelief. What was his problem. Who did he think he is?

“No.” That was it. I could feel the control slipping though my fingers.
