Lacey's POV: I walked into the front doors to see the tall man that offered me a spot on the team. I was carrying two bags, one was for basketball, "Good Morning Lacey." He said. I nodded and returned a small good morning. "So I'll bring you to the girls sports locker room. But for the halftime talks you are allowed in the boys locker room. You will have locker 24." He said as we walked through the gym at stopped at a door. "Here's your lock and your jersey with warm ups. Welcome to the team Miss Caylen." And with that he walked off. I walked into the locker room and found the locker and put my shoes and other stuff in there. I pulled out my jersey and warm ups and saw. My last name was on it. I was #35. There were two jerseys, a pair of pants, and a zip up sweatshirt that said L.A. Romans and had my last name sewed on the back. I smiled putting it in the locker neatly then locking it and going to first hour. I saw Jonah waiting in there for me. He smiled as I walked in "You all settled?" He asked. I nodded "I'm so proud of you." He said, I laughed "Me too." I said and the bell rung showing that first hour had begun.
"Welcome to practice gentlemen and lady." said Coach Simon, "As you all know. There is a new edition to this team. Everybody welcome Lacey Caylen." Everybody clapped and Jonah patted my back. "Ok. Let's get started on helping her with our different plays. Jonah point guard, Lacey shooting guard, Matthew power forward, Sam center, and Daniel small forward." He said. I walked to the position at the top by Jonah. "Ok Jonah swing it to Lacey. Then Lacey as you see the boys are gonna run out the sides of the three point line and you'll swing it to them then x-cut and go in. If you are not able to pass to screen for Daniel and he'll go into the middle and you'll turn around and get the ball for an easy 3." Coach Simon said. The ball was passed to me and I made a three pointer. "Nice. Now that play is called Split."
Sweat dripped down my forehead. "If you can't work as a team I'm gonna make practice hell for you!" Coach Simon's voice ran through the gym. "Now I want you to run the play cross." He said. We nodded and got in position. Jonah passed the ball and made an x cut while I went the other way and the ball was passed to me for an easy lay up. "Thank you! Lacey's first game is Friday. I'll see y'all tomorrow." Coach said then walked out. I wiped the sweat from my forehead. "You looked great." Jonah said patting my back. I let out a laugh and took a drink of water.
The hot water felt nice on my body as I rubbed all of the sweat off. After the shower I put my clothes on and brushed my hair. Then grabbed my basketball bag and backpack and walked out to see Jonah waiting for me. "Hey." He said smiling, "Hey." I replied back. "You looked great for a first timer." He said, "I actually used to play basketball by myself." Responded with, he nodded and we walked in silence. "Well keep it up. Your fast and a great shooter. Just what we need." He said before getting in Nick's car. I buckled up and Nick put the car in drive.
"What's up you guys its Lacey Jane and today I just feel like sitting in front of the camera and talking so that's what I'm gonna do." I said and took a sip of my water. "A lot has happened in the past week and I just feel like talking to you guys to get out all of my feelings. So last Friday my best friend, Jonah, asked me to be his girlfriend. As you guys know, because I told you, he had already taken me on a date. I of course said yes. Then yesterday he asked me to go to his basketball game so I did. And I actually have a spot as shooting guard on the boys varsity team. Yes I said boys. My brother thought I meant girls. But anyway my first game is on Friday and I'm super nervous. Wish me good luck and leave a comment below on what sport you play and your position. I hope you have a fantastic Wednesday. Bye." I covered the lens with my hand and stopped recording. I carried my camera over to my computer and started editing it.
Half way through editing I got a text.
Coach Simon🏀🏀- Weight room after school.
Me: ok
I have to lift weights? Great. I finished editing and ran downstairs to look for food. "Hey." I heard a females voice, it was Amber. "Hi." I said quickly and continued to look through the fridge for something to eat. "Lacey can I help you?" She asked, I shook my head indicating a no and continued to shove things out of the way to find good food. "Why don't you like me?" "Because you purposely snuck around with Jc so I wouldn't know you two were together. Maybe if you told me I would actually like you. But right now your annoying the crap out of me so walk away." I said finding a yogurt and grabbing it. Amber huffed then walked away. I grabbed a plastic spoon from the drawer and walked back up to my room. I stuffed shorts, a muscle tee, and my galaxy socks in my bag then set it next to my backpack

Then I went and laid down in bed and tried to fall asleep while the song 'it girl' by Jason Derulo played quietly in the background.
