Friday

Lacey's POV:
I stood in front of the mirror I took a deep breath and tied my shoes. It was game day. I put my warm ups over my jersey and took a deep breath before walking out and meeting the team there. "Ooh fancy!" Sam said winking at me. Jonah just smiled and shook his head. Then Coach Simon walked out in a suit. "Welcome team. Are you ready to kick some ass." He said. We started cheering and for a while the butterflies in my stomach went away. "Ok let's go warm up." He said. Jonah squeezed my shoulder as we made our way onto the court. I grabbed a basketball and pretended to be bad a shooting for the other team. I saw them whispering and pointing at me. "What's with your game?" Jonah whispered, "I'm pretending to be terrible to make the other team play at our level." I whispered back missing another jump shot. He smirked and started doing the same. Then the buzzer sounded indicating the introduction. "Welcome to the game Romans vs. Raiders!" shouted the announcer.

Matthew did the jump ball. He won and I got the ball. It was a no press game so I was able to hold it until Jonah turned around. I passed it to him. "Split!" His deep voice rang through the gym. We got into position and he passed it to me. They ran up and I swung it around making a move then going in the middle. They passed me the ball and then and there ladies and gents. I made my first basket of the season.

54 seconds on the clock coach called a time out. "Now there just looking to foul. I think Lacey is going to be the main target. Who is our best shooter so she'll be ok just be careful. We have a nice lead." He said. "Romans on three. One. Two. Three. ROMANS!" We all shouted then went on the court. We got the ball and just like Coach Simon predicted the tallest was pushing me backwards until I was sitting on my butt. "2 for 2" said the ref. I got up and took a deep breath. I got to the line and he passed it to me. The guy who pushed me was whispering "Don't miss." I smirked looking at him then back at the net and shooting a clean shot through the net. 6 seconds. He gave me back the ball and the boy spoke again "Oh that was lucky." I chuckled. Looked him straight in the eye and shot. The buzzer rang and I heard the crowd cheer knowing that my basket went in. I laughed as all of the color drained from the boys face. "Nice foul by the way." Then I walked to my team to line up and congratulate them, on there lose.

I was finally back in my regular clothes. Thank god its Friday. "Me and you tied for the most points." Jonah said as I walked out of the locker room. I smiled, "Nice. What was the magical number?" I asked, "34 points." I smiled then hoped in the car. Thank god it's Friday.

"Why! You just had to say it online in front of everyone didn't you!" Lyn shouted. Kian sat there in silence and Jc did too. I had just walked in the door, I had no idea what was going on. "What's going on?" I asked. Lyn stopped pacing and looked at me. Then glared at Kian and Jc. "Lacey look I-" but he was cut off by a yelling Lyn "Shut up! You can't just post those kind of hurtful words on social media about her." She shouted back. Hurtful. I pulled my phone out and searched all of my social media. Until I found what she was talking about.

@laceyjane your so annoying. Your worthless, ugly. Your imaginary boyfriend hates you. Your not wanted. I'm glad I could get those words out.

Tears burned my eyes. What made it ten times worse was. Who tweeted it. Jc. I threw my basketball bag and backpack on the ground and took off sprinting out the door. "Lacey!" Someone shouted but I kept running. Worthless! A little voice in my head shouted. Your worthless! Your not wanted. Why didn't you take the hint the first time I started yelling at you? I couldn't take it anymore. I fell to the ground and pulled out my phone and called Jonah. "Please pick up, please." I mumbled to myself. Then I heard a deep voice that didn't belong to Jonah. "Hello?" "Is Jonah there?" I asked stifling a cry. I choked on my tears and let out a sob "I need to speak to him." "Lacey? It's Nick. Are you ok?" Nick said. "No. I'm not ok and I'm sitting on the corner. I don't think I can go home. I don't think my emotions can take it." I said, "Ok I'm coming to get you. What street corner are you at?" He asked, "9nth and Maine." I said then the line went dead. My face was wet and now the tears were freezing to my face. The wind was cold and I only had a t-shirt on.

Five minutes past and finally Nick's Range Rover pulled up. I got in the passenger seat. His blue eyes looked at me with sorrow. "Do you want to talk about it?" I shook my head. Now the tears were gone. And my heart hurt to bad to shed anymore.
