Lacey's POV:
Jonah and I walked into the house to get ready for the scrimmage that may or may not cost me my spot in Coach's line up. I was beyond pissed at Nate. I walked to the bathroom and put on black basketball shorts and a white muscle tee with my galaxy socks. I French braided my hair then put on some deodorant. I walked out to see Jonah putting on a white muscle tee. He was wearing red shorts with regular black basketball socks. I grabbed my black nike high tops that I use for street ball and put them on then grabbed my ball. "You ready?" I heard Jonah say. I nodded then headed out the door knowing Jonah was following. I already filled up my water bottle and waited for Jonah to grab one then we made our way to the court.

When we arrived at the court there was a huge crowd surrounding it, butterflies appeared in my stomach as people started whispering around. Then as if someone snapped and my mood changed. I was mad at Lyn and I was mad at Jc. And I was mad at everyone. I'm gonna kick this kids butt.

"Ok shorty. You ready?  Rules: no press and no foul." He said. I nodded then we checked the ball and I passed it to Jonah, Matt screened for Jonah and Matt then rolled off the screen for an easy three. Which is what happened. 3-0, and I know who's winning.

It was first to 50. We had 47 and Nate has 40. I was ready for this game to end, beads of sweat dripped down my forehead. After checking the ball I took off dribbling towards the basket but turned around and passed it to Matt. He faked a layup and passed it to Jonah. Who shot faked then passed it to Daniel who passed it to Mikey who pretended to do a lay up then passed it to me. The defense was confused and you could tell in Nate's face that he knew we already won. Because then I shot the basketball into the hoop making a clear three points. 50-40. I saw the crowd cheering but I heard nothing. Sweat dripped down my face and my mouth hung open trying to devour as much oxygen as I could. Then Nate stomped over to me and pulled his fist back then a harsh impact hit me.

Jonah's POV:
"What the hell!" I shouted at Nate, he stood there looking at the limp body that laid in front of him. He look, surprised at what he did. "You have hit her so many times and she hasn't told anyone!" I said walking up to him resisting the urge to kick him right where the sun don't shine. Nate didn't make a sound. The crowd was still around watching. Mikey, Matt, and Daniel were helping Lacey off the court. "Your lucky I have respect for my girlfriend or I would've kick your ass a long time ago." I said passing the ball harshly at him so it hit his chest hard. Then I turned on my heel and helped carry Lacey home.

Daniel opened the door and held it open as I carried her in bridal style. She groaned and fixed her position in my arms. I carried her up to the guest bedroom and laid her down on the bed removing her street shoes and jacket. I then shut the lights off and walked down to the kitchen to talk to the guys. "I need advise." I said looking at my hands, "Spit it out." Daniel said. "Well. Lacey's brother is having second thoughts of taking care of her so Lyn, Kian's girlfriend who lives with them talked to Nick to see if they made the decision final that it would be ok with my parents to sign adoption papers. But a rule about that is no dating." I said, "To be honest Jo, you guys don't even act like a couple, you guys act like family. I feel like she thinks the same thing. You guys should break off and just be friends." Matt said. I nodded swallowing hard as I heard foot steps. I turned to see a puffy faced Lacey, tears coming out of her eyes. "And I think it's time for us to go." Mikey said grabbing Matt and Daniel by the color of their shirts and yanking them towards the door. "Lacey can we talk?" I said, she nodded walking over and sat across from me. "So I'm guessing you already know the situation." I said. She nodded and waited for me to continue. "Well I was thinking that it might be best if we just stayed best friends." Her face lit up, "Thank you so much for taking care of that because I really didn't want to." She said, I started laughing and pulled her in for a hug, "Lacey, your like a sister, I love you for that"

Jc's POV:
"Mrs. Jacobs?" I said into the phone, "This is she." Said a female voice, "It's Jc Caylen regarding the conversation we had last week about you signing adoption papers for Lacey Caylen." I said taping my fingers on the table impatiently. "Funny, I just got off the plane and I was about to call you. Anyway, is your decision final? I mean Nick is a good brother he will be taking care of her most of the time. I'm home at least one week a month." She said, "Yeah. I actually have the papers with me. If you want you can come over and sign them and the adoption can be finalized in a week or so." I said, I heard her hum "Send me the address." Then the line went dead. I typed in my address then pressed send. After setting down my phone I sighed loudly. "I'm fucking 23, how am I supposed to have a kid of my own if I can't take care of my damn sister. How am I supposed to tell her this. It's not that I don't want her it's I can't take care of her." I said throwing my hands in the air, "Jc your really pathetic you know that right." Lyn said, "Your missing out. Just tell her. But make sure it's face to face. Don't do any of that texting bullshit."

"Now that I'm broken, now that you know it, caught up in a moment, can you see inside? Cause I've got a jet black heart and there's a hurricane underneath it. Trying to keep us apart.'
