Lacey's POV:
"Lacey. Get up." I felt someone grab my shoulders. I groaned and sat up. I was still on a plane. "It's time to get off." Jonah said. I nodded reaching and grabbing my basketball bag. After getting the rest of our suitcases there was a man in a black tux with a sign that said 'Jonah & Lacey Jacobs' we walked over to him and nodded. "Ok follow me." He said, he took us to a black limo and opened the door for us. Then put our suitcases in the trunk.
"Steph will be here soon to give you a tour of the dorms then show you two your dorm and give you a schedule." He said before driving off. Who's Steph? Then around the corner Steph Curry started walking towards us. Man he's tall. "Are you two the Jacobs?" He asked, we nodded then he clapped his hands "Cool. My names Steph Curry but I'm guessing you knew that." He said. I nodded then he chuckled a little. "I thought this was a boys camp. But that's cool that your here. We already have two teams laid out. You two are on my team. So we'll go to the my wing where the other 8 of your teammates rooms are including mine. Then I'll show you the cafeteria and the gym, then the court. Then I'll give you the schedule." Then he turned on his heel, "Follow me."
After he left us in our room, which was basically a two bedroom apartment, we stared at the schedule. It was very organized. Work out, eat, run, practice. Our first game was next week. I walked into my room and started settling in by unpacking all of my clothes, which basically consisted of mostly basketball shorts and muscle tees but there were some other clothes in there for Saturday's which we get off. The room that I had was decorated like a basketball court. The floor was the same basketball flooring with a basketball rug and bedding. The walls had Steph Curry on them and the NBA symbol with the NCAA symbol. After finishing I thought I would see who my team mates were. So I walked out into the commons ready to mingle...
"Wait. So your a varsity 9nth grader. On the boys team?" Dane asked. I nodded. He looked at Jonah then back at me, Jonah nodded. "Well let's see how good you are. This is a boys camp after all." The Dane got up and stomped away. "He's mad because your taking the shooting guard position that he wasn't even good at." A kid said sitting down I'm Dane's old spot. "I'm Jayce. And I'm guessing your the only girl in this whole complex that's good enough to be here." He said. "Lacey. But you can call me Lace or Jacobs." I said, "Why Jacobs?" "Because it's my last name." I said, he nodded "Ok Jacobs. Welcome to the team."
I was rudely woken up by my blaring alarm that was telling me to get up. Because today was the first day of practice. I got up and put on galaxy Nike shorts and a black muscle tee with my galaxy socks. After French braiding my hair and brushing my teeth, I slipped on my sandals and grabbed my basketball bag. I saw Jonah standing waiting for me. "Let's head to breakfast then we'll meet in the Curry gym." I nodded following Jonah to the cafeteria. We grabbed a tray and got served pancakes. Jayce waved us over to sit next to him so we did. "Your probably going to be one of the top people on our team. I've seen you play." Jayce said, "Your coach sent in the tape of you playing and Steph showed me." He said, "Ahh, that's how you knew I was shooting guard." I said, he nodded "Yeah. There's only 8 people on our team. You, Jonah, me, Dane, Sam, Nick, Henry, and Will." Jayce said. I nodded.
After finishing Jayce walked to the gym with us. Just as I finished tying my shoes Steph came walking in. "Ok team. I brought in some people to help you on some skills. Let's get Jonah, Lacey, Jayce, Will, and Sam out there. Set up and get ready." He said while grabbing the ball cart. Then 5 guys came running into the gym. "Ok. Let's get started." Steph yelled passing the ball to Jonah to check it with a taller guy who was guarding him. He passed the ball to me and made an x-cut. I made the ball go under my left leg to my left hand and then kept switching hands before faking to go left but going right. Jayce screened for me and I went in for an easy lay up. "Nice!" Steph shouted.
Steph blew the whistle indicating that practice was over. We practice many different techniques and plays. 6 hours of practice was tiring. "Ok guys I'll see you all tomorrow in the weight room be ready." Coach said then be dismissed us and Jonah and I walked back to our room. "Nice practice today Lace." He said before disappearing into his room. Probably for a shower. I laid on my bed logging onto my laptop. It was my first day here and I honestly missed it back home in Los Angeles. But this will be my home for the next few months. Like Nick said before I left. 'Have fun. Don't think to much'
