First day of school
Lacey's POV:
Beep, beep, beep. I woke up to my alarm. Groaning I remember what today was. The first day of sophomore year. Getting out of bed and making it I was to my closet to search for some clothes to wear. I pull out my 10,000 shots club shirt that I got during the summer for finally reaching 10,000 baskets, then I pull out a pair of washed skinny jeans and my Nike high tops. I ran a brush through my hair remembering that I showered last night. After getting all ready I grabbed my phone and backpack with my basketball bag and ran downstairs. I poured myself a bowl of cereal and watched as Jonah came walking downstairs. He looked like he actually tried. He was wearing dark blue skinny jeans with a red shirt and a red bandana with his white high top adidas. He sat across from me and poured himself cereal too. The story behind Lyn is, her and Kian broke up and now she lives with and dates Nick. After finished my cereal I washed my bowl just to see Nick coming down the stairs with keys in his hand. "Come on you two. Wouldn't want to be late." He said walking for the door. I grabbed my stuff and follow him with Jonah not far behind me.
After dropping my afternoon classes off at my locker I walked to my first class which was English. Again. But I had it with Sage and Jonah. On the board it said pick your seats for the first semester. Taking advantage of that me and Sage looked at each other and sprinted for the back of the room. Jonah followed. As soon as we sat down we put our backpacks on the desk showing we claimed the seats. Then a guy with dyed blond hair and a sleeve of tattoos walked in. He was wearing dress pants and a black button up shirt with the sleeves rolled up. He walked straight to the white board pulling out a expo marker and writing Mr. Pottorff in big and neat hand writing for a guy. Then when the bell rang he turned around and clapped his hands together. "Welcome class to the first hour of the first day of sophomore year. I'm Mr. Pottorff." He said, his cheeks were really red and he had pale skin. I looked over at Jonah who looked at me at the same time. "I'm calling attendance. Say here or present please. Samantha Anderson." "Here." He was probably writing the seating chart. Finally he got to me and Jonah. "Lacey Jacobs." "Here." "Jonah Jacobs." "Here." Then Mr. Pottorff looked up at us. "Twins?" He questioned. I shook my head he nodded then finished through the list. "Ok class today will me fairly simple. Im going to put an object or fruit on the board and we're going to go around the room and explain it. If you can't come up with one just say pass."
Lunch came quickly. Sam, Matt, Jonah, Sage, and I sat at our table and ate our food silently. "So how was morning classes so far?" Sage asked, we shrugged "I'm not really a big fan of school." Matt said, we all nodded in agreement. "But hey! Upside to school is we get to watch tryouts today. Coach Simon said he's only excepting 6 or 7." I said.
The final school bell rang and I basically pushed freshmen down to get to my locker. I stuffed everything I needed in my backpack and ran to the gym to get assigned my sports locker and apparently they redesigned the jerseys. I entered the gym to see coach Simon and some of the guys. "Well. The MVP of Massachusetts has returned." Coach Simon said smiling and holding out his hand for a hand shake, I accept it then sit down. He turns around. "Alright sophomores. How this works is since there's five of you right now. You get to pick your backup players I case your sick. Then you get to help with JV. Then we will assign you lockers and get you jerseys and practice jerseys." He said. Then like 10 people walked onto the court. Some were tall, some were short. But they were all ready for practice, wearing shorts and muscle tees. "Ok guys. Let's get try outs started." Coach said clapping his hands.
After tryouts I looked down at my clipboard. I had two shooting guards to choose from. Darren Smith, 6'2" experience is 9 years. Or Micheal Will 5'10". Experience is 10 years. I put a check mark next to Darren's name. He was way better then Michael and way taller. Sighing I handed my paper to Coach Simon. After ten minutes of everyone finishing picking who they wanted. Coach called them over. I watched as the guys who didn't get picked walk away in pity. "Alright ladies and Lacey. Welcome to the 2016 basketball season." He said. He pulled out two huge bins and held patches in his hands. "Ok. I'll hand out your jerseys and practice jerseys. Then I'll give you the form for warm ups this year." He said. "Ok. #1 captain Jonah Jacobs." He said. Jonah grabbed his shorts, home, and away jersey. "#35 co captain Lacey Jacobs." He said. I grabbed my jerseys and shorts. They went through the line as as he started giving the new guys jerseys he was putting their last name patch on.
Once everyone got everything. They were assigned lockers. "Ok Lacey. I'm going to let you into the boys athletic locker room this year. But. There are stalls you have to change in and you can shower in the private section I have behind my office." He said. Then he walked us to the locker room. "Ok here's the assignment for lockers." He said. He started at a row. "Lacey, Jonah, Darren, Matthew, Samuel, and Daniel in this row. Then Isaiah, Dan, Keith, and Ryan in that row. There is tape for your names on the bench and locks. Once you finish you allowed to go. Practice starts at 3 tomorrow don't be late." He said then walked to his office. I stuck my basketball shoes that are strictly for school basketball in the locker along with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, deodorant, and a brush. Then put my jersey in there with my practice jersey and the clothes I brought for today that I'm wearing for practice tomorrow. I closed my locker and put a lock on it. "Ok come on Jonah let's go." I said grabbing my backpack and walking towards the door, Jonah followed. "What do you think about the new guys?" He asked, "There ok." I responded. Then we walked silently to Nick's car.
