T H I R T Y - O N E

Lacey's POV:
"Lacey. It's Jc. I want to see you. I understand if you don't want to see me but I made a huge mistake by treating you the way I did. Please forgive me. Call me back" I sighed and opened a text message to send it to him.

Me: Take me out for dinner this Friday after practice.

Then I put my phone on my bed and ran downstairs. Lyn was sitting at the table on her laptop typing like a maniac. "Heyy Lyn." I said sitting in the chair next to her trying to see what she was typing. "Watcha doin?" "Trying to edit my book, but a little Lacey is distracting me." She said narrowing her eyes at me. I backed up and winked at her. "Ok. I'm gonna find something to do with my life. Bye." I said running outside. I walked down the street.

Me: Henry, would you wanna meet me at Safe Haven?

It was my favorite café. I was almost half way through the door when my phone vibrated

Henry💙- see you soon

I took a seat and waited. Pulling out my phone I see I got a text from Sage.

7 years later

"Henry! We're gonna be late." I shout from downstairs. He came downstairs in black skinny jeans and a white button up. He kissed my cheek and grabbed his car keys. "Let's go." He said. I smiled and followed him to the car. "So how's varsity doing?" Henry asked resting his hand on my thigh as he pulled out of our driveway. "Practice is starting soon honey." I said, he gave me a weird look. "Oh yeah." He said laughing. He was an artist, he loved to draw. He designed most of his tattoos. We were on our way for a family dinner at Jc's. Yes at Jc's, we made up along time ago. He's married to Amber and Kian is dating a girl named Marley. Jonah was dating Sage. I know I know. Shocker. Sage broke up with Sam because he was drug dealing. He eventually got kicked off of the team.

I opened the door to see Nick, Lyn, Amber, Jc, Jonah, Sage, Kian, and Marley. "Hey!" I said walking through the door holding Henry's hand. Jc got up and gave me a hug and so did Nick and Jonah. "So what is planned for tonight besides dinner? Because we all know that if it's just dinner someone's gonna eventually eat the whole house." I said laughing as Henry wrapped his arms around me pulling me into his chest. Then he whispered in my ear "I know something we could do." I elbowed him and he chuckled. "Anyway. What else is planned?" I asked. Jc shrugged "I don't know." He said. "Come on man your the worst host I've ever met." I said laughing. I sat down on the ground and Henry sat next to me. We all sat in silence. "Ok I'm gonna go get something to drink."

Later that night

I walked out of the bathroom towards bed and climbed under the covers. Henry soon came stripping from his shirt and laying next to me "So what did you think?" I asked, "If your referring to the family dinner that, was boring as fuck. Next time we'll have it at our house." He said shifting so he could drape his arm around me. "Goodnight princess. I love you." He said. "I love you too."

"Ok Henry I'll be back I just have to stop by Jc's quickly." I shouted then walked out to my car and pulled out of the driveway. Jc didn't live that faraway so before I knew it I was already shutting off the ignition of my car. I got out and started walking to the front door when I noticed it was open. "Jc?" I said creaking the door open. The house looked perfectly fine. I checked the kitchen, laundry room, knocked on the bathroom door. No sign of Amber or Jc. I opened the bedroom door and there was nobody in there. But something caught my attention. There was a red spot on the carpet. I walked closer to see Amber and Jc laying there. "Jc?" I said. No answer. The I noticed a hole through his shirt and Amber's too. Frozen by terror I finally got the courage to pull out my phone and dial 9-1-1. "You have dialed 9-1-1 what is your emergency?" Said a woman on the other end. "My older brother and his wife have been shot! I just came to pick something up from there house and I found them." I said starting to break down in tears. "Ok ma'am what is the address." She said, I gave her the address, "Ok somebody is already on there way." She said. I hung up and dialed Henry's number. "Henry I need you to meet me at the hospital please." I said as soon as he answered. "Ok? Babe what's going on?" He asked. "I walked into Jc's house and he and Amber have been." I took a deep breath and the next work almost sounded like a wimper "Shot."

I ran after the two gurneys as they were being wheeled to immediate surgery for removal of the bullets. Then a doctor yanked me back. "Sorry ma'am you can't continue any further. Your brother and sister are in good hands." He said. I walked back to the waiting room with my head down. I saw Henry standing there looking at me with sorrow. He engulfed me in a hug and rubbed my back. Neither of us said a word. 

At 12:34 P.M. Amber Caylen and Jc Caylen are officially pronounced dead.
