Lacey's POV:
The night went by fast. Jonah and I started training with Nick. Lyn made dinner. It's like Nick and Lyn were our mom and dad. Except Nicks' our brother and Lyns' his girlfriend. I walked through the halls on my way to the locker room when I collided with a hard shoulder knocking me to the ground. "Watch were your go- Lacey?" I looked up to see the jerk who ran into me a few weeks ago. Henry. "Can I help you?" I asked standing up. "Well. I can help you." He said winking, "No you can't because I'm going to be late to basketball practice." I said trying to push passed him. "Girls basketball doesn't start until. Hold on. Your the baller girl everyone talks about." I kept walking. "Wait! Lacey. I'm sorry that was bad." He said, I stopped and turned on my heel. "I'm sorry that was bad." I nodded, "I heard you the first time you've said it. Now I'm going to be late." I said ignoring everything he said and continued to walk down to the hall.Sprinting onto the court just in time before coach walked into the gym. Jonah elbowed me "Where were you?" He said under his breath. "I got stopped in the hallway." I whispered back. "Ok ladies and Lacey welcome to practice day 1." Coach Simon said, "Ok I want you warming up your shooting with the Celtics drill then shooting at least seven out of ten, if failed you will be running the amount that you fell short in Roman makers. Understand? Good get a partner and start." He said walking back to the little table that was set up for him and was making notes and watching. "Come on Jonah." I said. Then I caught a glimpse of a boy standing in the corner of the doorway by the gym entrance. I knew exactly who it was, Henry.
"Ok. Finish practice with a strong 20 in one minute." He said. I got into the push-up position and started lowering my body until my nose touched the ground then pulled back up and repeated that until the whistle rang through the gym. I stood up breathing heavily as sweat dripped down my shoulders and face. "You good?" I heard Jonah ask. I nodded looking over towards the doorway that u saw Henry standing at. He waved then turned and walked out of the gym. Why won't he leave me alone. I walked to the private shower and showered letting the hot water wash away all of the sweat. I found myself staring at the wall in the well lit room. I sighed letting thoughts rush into my mind that I haven't thought about in a while. Was I good enough? Pretty enough? Smart enough? I tried to ignore the little voice inside of my head. But every time I tried. It got louder.

Tears started pouring down my face. My answers to all of those questions were I don't know. I sat down in the shower and hugged my legs. Was I going slowly insane? I don't know. COME ON. WHATS WITH THE I DON'T KNOWS! I sat there for a moment then stood up trying to gather myself. I turn the water off and dry myself off. After getting dressed I wiped my eyes and walked out of the room with my head down hoping no one noticed anything. I grabbed my school bag and didn't wait for Jonah. I took off sprinting for Nick's car. "Are you crying?" "Come on Henry! It's been twice that I've seen you and now your following me around like some lunatic." I shouted at. "I'm just trying to help, Lace." I point a finger at him "Don't you dare call me that." I said through gritted teeth, "I have been to hell and back. How much do I need to be on my knees begging for a god damn break!" By now tears were streaming down my face blurring my vision. "Just one break." I said holding up my pointer finger, "Lacey I'm sorry. I just thought maybe we could try being friends." He said in a extremely scary small voice. He walked closer to me while I just stood there letting tears fall from my cheek. "I just want a break Henry. I want a break from life. I can't do this anymore." I said, then he made one sudden movement and pulled me tight to his chest. The scent of axe filled my nose. I listened to his hard beat and his breathing. "Lacey. You don't mean that. Because you have a lot of people who love and care for you here. You have a potential basketball career and you have me. Because from this point on." He said slipping a piece of paper in my left fist, "I have became one of your best friends." And then with that I watched him walk down the hallway and take a right. I looked down at the crumbled piece of paper. 24/7 crisis line of Henry ###-###-#### I smiled wiping my tears and waiting for Jonah. Once he finally came we walked to Nick's car.
The drive home was silent. "Lyn made baked ziti tonight." Nick said trying to break the silence. "Yum." Jonah said looking at me through one of the rear view mirrors. I looked down at my hands. "I'm not hungry." I said, he pulled up into the driveway and the second I heard his shift into park I hoped out walked to my room. I set my stuff in the corner and laid in bed staring at the ceiling.
