While Sans hung out at Grillby's, Mari was getting ready to go 'fight' Papyrus. Not that she would be doing any actual fighting, though. She'd just do her best to avoid his attacks and talk to him. Maybe eventually he'll just stop fighting her. Hopefully. She took a few deep, calming breaths before actually starting towards where she thought Papyrus would be waiting. As she continued forward, clutching Neelix, the wind and snow seemed to intensify, making it harder and harder for Mari to see, until she was moving blindly forward. Soon, though, she saw a figure up ahead that looked vaguely like Papyrus. It was just too snowy to really know for sure. She stopped moving and waited for him to say something, anything.

Papyrus had been waiting here for quite a while. He was trying to sort out his feelings. For some reason, he felt almost as if . . . He didn't want to fight the Human. But he had to! He had to capture them! And then he'd be a member of the Royal Guard! He'd be popular! He'd have lots of friends! Nyeh! Heh! . . . Heh?? Ah! The Human was approaching! He saw them stop, or at least they probably did. It was a little difficult for him to see in the blizzard as well, even if it was created by his magic. "HUMAN. ALLOW ME TO TELL YOU ABOUT SOME COMPLEX FEELINGS. FEELINGS LIKE . . . THE JOY OF FINDING ANOTHER PASTA LOVER. THE ADMIRATION FOR ANOTHER'S PUZZLE-SOLVING SKILLS. THE DESIRE TO HAVE A COOL, SMART PERSON THINK YOU ARE COOL. THESE FEELINGS . . ." he began, "THEY MUST BE WHAT YOU ARE FEELING RIGHT NOW!!! I CAN HARDLY IMAGINE WHAT IT MUST BE LIKE TO FEEL THAT WAY. AFTER ALL, I AM VERY GREAT. I DON'T EVER WONDER WHAT HAVING LOTS OF FRIENDS IS LIKE. I PITY YOU . . . LONELY HUMAN . . . WORRY NOT!!! YOU SHALL BE LONELY NO LONGER! I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS WILL BE YOUR . . ." he trailed off.

No, what was he saying? He couldn't be their friend. He had to capture them. ". . ." He turned around. "NO . . . NO, THIS IS ALL WRONG! I CAN'T BE YOUR FRIEND!!! YOU ARE A HUMAN! I MUST CAPTURE YOU!!! THEN, I CAN FULFILL MY LIFELONG DREAM!!! POWERFUL! POPULAR! PRESTIGIOUS! THAT'S PAPYRUS!!! THE NEWEST MEMBER . . . OF THE ROYAL GUARD!" Papyrus said, loud as usual. Though now it was important so the Human could hear him over the loud wind and snow. Now! Now he would battle the human! And he would capture them! He would win!

*Papyrus blocks the way!

Mari wasn't surprised when her SOUL was drawn out and the battle started. It was what she had come here to do, wasn't it? She CHECKED Papyrus.

*He likes to say:
"Nyeh heh heh!"

"NYEH HEH HEH!" Papyrus said, making Mari giggle, before attacking.

Mari watched as three small bones slid under her SOUL. Huh. Well, that didn't really do anything.

*Papyrus is rattling his bones.

What to do now? How was she going to win against someone as awesome as Papyrus? She really did admire him, you know. She didn't realize she said so out loud until . . .
