Sans had kept talking with Toriel for awhile, admiring her more than he ever thought he would. The way she smiled. The way her red eyes shined with a gentle blue from the caverns gems, making her eyes appear purple almost. The way she laughed. The way she would joke back and snort at her own joke. Now that he had seen her up close and personal, he couldn't stop taking in her features. She always said she was 'old', and he knew she was old, seeing as how when he was young, she had just exited her prime, or something like that. She looked about the same the last time he really saw her. Papyrus was just a baby, so he couldn't even remember her, honestly. Sans wouldn't think he would have fallen for someone before, and he hoped he never did. It just seemed like so much work. It was just that... well, he couldn't help but find it possible that maybe it would be worth it this time... or something like that. It seemed like an unreachable dream though, as his mind wandered back to their conversation in his room. That was indeed, quite awkward.

Mari continued walking and found Toriel quickly. She also spotted Sans, who had probably teleported himself. She wondered if he had startled anyone, but by Toriel's happy expression it didn't really matter. She walked over to said Goat Monster and gave her a smile, taking her paw and glancing ahead to show she was ready to continue. She also gave Sans a smile, hoping he understood that she was feeling better now. She definitely didn't want him feeling guilty or anything like that.

Sans had watched Toriel laugh at another joke he had said, and the lights of his eyes turned into small hearts. They had ever since he had gotten back and told her a few jokes. He couldn't help it. He had practically fallen in love. Practically. However, when he heard the sound of footsteps, he forced his eyes to return to their usual circular shape and forced his blush away. When had he done that? And for how long? Sans hoped Toriel didn't think anything of it. Well, Toriel hadn't said anything, so maybe he was in the clear. He looked over to Mari when she had made her way over and smiled back at the smile he had received. He could tell she was feeling better, but he wondered what had changed her mood. Well, he was glad about it nonetheless. " * i hope we can hang out again some time." He said reassuringly and waved to Toriel as well, seeing as how they were heading on their way.

Toriel had seemed rather curious as to Sans' dozed off expression, but honestly didn't think much of it. He was probably tired, or not feeling too well. She couldn't really tell, honestly. Besides the time in his room, he was always, always smiling. She had enjoyed her time spent with him, and hoped they could spend more time together in the future. He was very, very funny. And she did enjoy his jokes. She wondered if she could at least come up with another joke for the next time they'll see each other, and she can't help but feel it would be soon. With a soft sigh and gentle smile, she looked over to Mari as she approached, and smiled at Sans before holding her paw and showing she was ready to continue. She held her small hand back and Toriel waved to Sans before heading forward, letting Mari lead more since she just seemed so determined to continue. Toriel must be able to match it by the end of all of this. It was contagious, evidently.

Mari wondered briefly what she might have missed between her two favorite Monsters, but didn't see anything out of the ordinary between them. For a second she thought she saw Sans blushing, but brushed it off as her imagination and gave him a nod. What she couldn't brush off, however, was something sparkling close to Sans' booth. She moved closer, but couldn't catch it. Strange. But she had to focus on continuing their journey, not on the curiosity that these shining points evoked in her. The sound of rushing water filled her with DETERMINATION. She walked with Toriel into the next room, the courage she had gained between the Ruins and Waterfall allowing her to gently lead her Goat Mom instead of silently following. She glanced around as they entered the next area, and was frightened by the sight to her right. Wooden walkways suspended above a deep, dark, abyss greeted her, a lone Echo Flower in the distance. She could barely hear the words from where she was, and they sounded whispered to her, "I swore I saw something . . . Behind that rushing water . . ." She shivered a little, as even faceless talking flowers made her cringe in painful memory.
