Tom's P.O.V

It's been a week since Ethan suggested that I take Melody somewhere other than home for the weekend. I convinced my mom to let me stay in the cabin for the weekend and she has no idea that I'm going to have Mel with me. It's going to be really quiet, so it's perfect for her to get some sleep. Mel and I are packing her for the weekend. While Melody was sleeping, I went home and packed. Unfortunately, she was wide awake and crabby when I got back. Sitting on the bed waiting for Melody brings a whole new meaning to the Brad Paisley song "Waiting on a woman." After she finishes packing, I grab the bag and her hand. Once our hands are locked together, we go down stairs. At this point in time, "Then" by Brad Paisley also has a new meaning.

"I see y'all are all set for your weekend away," Kat says walking into the room with Mark in tow.

"Yup, can't wait to get out of this house for once," Mel says. School has both stressed her out and pissed her off. Exams are next week, so there is a lot more drama at school and Melody hates all of it.

"Don't have too much fun guys. If Melody comes home knocked up, I will cut off you penis and feed it to a shark," she says looking at me.

"Alright, threatening Melody's boy toys is our job," Ethan says walking into the room with Jon and Kevin directly behind him. "Don't you two dare do what Kevin did last night with Crystal."

"What did Kevin do with crystal last night," I ask with a knowing smile.

"He lost his virginity to that one," Ethan says pointing to Crystal, who had her face buried in Kevin's chest. It's about damn time he lost that damn thing. She shouldn't be embarrassed, she should be proud.

"Tommy, can we go now," Mel whines tugging on my shirt. She is a little impatient sometimes, but I think it's one of the reasons why I love her so much.

"Someone's excited to get out of here. Do you guys have big plans for when you are at the cabin," James says wiggling his eyebrows.

"For one, we are not going to do any of that and for two, we should get going. I want to be at the cabin by night fall," I say before throwing Melody over my shoulder, causing her to yelp in surprise. I pick up our bags then walk to the door. "See y'all when we get back," I say before walking out the door.

I carry her to the truck, open the passenger side door, and set her in. She isn't really happy with me since I didn't let her open my door for me, but she gives me a smile and kiss before closing the door. I climb into the driver's side, throw the bags in the back seat, and start the truck. As i drive off, I slam on the breaks and the door closes itself. Before we get going again, I slide her to the middle seat, buckle her up, and grab her hand. She buckles me in as we drive down the road so that I don't get a ticket.

In about two hour, we are approximately half way there. Mel has been trying to sleep, but she wakes up and goes back to sleep every ten minutes because I keep changing the station from 107.1 to talk radio. Eventually, she tapes the buttons on the radio making it impossible for me to change the station. She lays her head on my shoulder and stretches her legs across the passenger seat.

"Tommy, can we stop at a rest stop or something? I need to pee," she says quietly.

"I guess we can stop. How about you take a nap again since we are like an hour away from the next exit," I lie. The next exit is in like two minutes, but she doesn't know that because she is laying across the entire front seat.

"Fine, I'll take a nap. Don't try and change the station or you will slowly start to lose fingers," she threatens before laying her head on my lap and falling asleep. So far, the trip has been really quiet and peaceful. Melody has gotten some sleep and I'm really happy about that. Right now, she needs all the sleep that she can get.
