It's been about two months since the rough patch between Tom and I. We have had other little fights, but they have cleared up as fast as they came up. Tonight Tom is taking me on a date and I really excited. He hasn't taken me out in a while and he promised that it won't be at a fancy restaurant or at the beach. We have also made the poor decision to not see each other till he comes and gets me. I think it's so we can surprise each other because we agreed to dress up for each other and we both got a gift for one another. I really hope he likes his or I will kill Ethan and Steve.
I requested that I get ready on my own because I can't remember the last time everyone let me get myself ready for a date. For tonight, I borrowed Kat's automatic hair curler. I'm just going to wear a red, lacey dress with my black cowboy boots. The dress will have a skinny black belt around the waist and my boots have a little bit of sparkle so it's not going to be too simple. The only makeup I'm wearing is going to clear lip gloss, mascara, and pencil eyeliner because I hate liquid eyeliner.
"Melody, would you like to kick yourself out of your thoughts and come hang out with us downstairs before you have to get ready," Alex questions as he leans against the door frame of my room.
"Yeah," I respond closing my laptop. He comes further into the room, throws me over his shoulder, and carries me to the living room. He throws me on the couch and proceeds to sit on me. "Get off of me. What are you trying to do, crush me?"
"I'm just trying to make sure that you will always remember today so that one day you can tell your kids about it," he says proudly.
"Dude if Tom was here and he seen you do that he would kick your ass," James comments walking into the room with two giant bowls of popcorn.
"James is right. You would be on the ground with a black eye and a blood nose right about now. Do you not remember what happened to cameron when he tried to rape her," Ethan buts in as he walks into the room. After setting a couple two liters on the table, Ethan checks his phone. " Mel, Tom says hi and that he loves and misses you."
"Tell him I said hi and that I love him more. Also tell him that I miss him more."
"Get a room, nobody want's to hear that," Kevin says.
"Just like nobody want's to hear you fucking crystal for all hours of the night," Simon says walking into the room with stacks of movies.
"Thank you Simon," I comment.
"You're welcome sweetpea."
"You guys know what bothers me," James pipes up all of a sudden.
"What pea brain," Alex asks with an annoyed tone.
"Melody always calls him Simon, but never dad. Mel, why don't you ever call him dad?"
"I just don't feel comfortable calling someone dad that isn't my dad. He is your dad, but he isn't mine. As you already know, the man I call dad is dead. Sorry if it bothers you, but I really don't want to change it so deal with it," I defend.
"Melody, just call me whatever makes you comfortable. If you want to call me dad, that's fantastic. If you want to stick with Simon, that's good too. James you need to understand where Melody is coming here and be more considerate of her past and her beliefs," Simon says in my defence. I have considered calling him dad because of how long I have lived with him, but it's not really enough to justify anything. My dad will always be my dad whether he is dead in the ground or not.
"I have considered doing a trial and error period, but I just don't think it would stick," I comment.
"Well whatever you want to do is fine. If you need it, we are all here for you no matter what," Mark says from the brown recliner.
