My Only hope

Chapter 17: Coming home

Tom's P.O.V

I wake up on the couch and find that Melody has made a cocoon out of blankets on the floor. I look to the trunk when we keep blankets by the door and see that it's completely empty. She must've been really cold because i've never seen her to this before.

It's a beautiful morning, the sun is shining and the are chirping. The sky is a wonderful blue and there isn't a cloud in the sky. Right now there are a few things that can ruin today. Melody and I have to come come home today. I want to be able to hang out with her when we get home. I have to visit with the man that beat and left my mother when she was about thirty four weeks pregnant for me. To top it all off, by the looks of Melody, it's going to be a cold and emotional day.

I shake Mel and she growls at me. I bend down and lift her up. After carrying her to the bathroom, grabbing clothes, then taking her to the bathroom with me, I help prepare her for our final shower together. We wash ourselves and make love.We get dressed and take our things to the truck. After climbing in and buckling in, we start our saddening journey home.

About two hours later, we take an exit to get something to eat. We sit down to eat and we eat slow. The hardest thing for us today is having to say goodbye. We know that it's just for a day, but we got a message from Ethan saying that a pipe burst at the school. I know my mom will try to make me stay home, but I don't want to be without Melody.

"Tom, would it be a bad thing if we stopped and stayed at a hotel for the rest of the day? I really don't want to go home quite yet."

" I don't want to go home either, but I'm sure the guys miss you. My mom and sister missed me, so we have to. sorry Mel."

"I don't want to spend the day without you."

" I don't like it as much as you do, but we have to have a day with our family sometime."

"I hate it when you're right," she says laying on my shoulder. I take one hand off the wheel and wrap my arm around her. " Permission to take a nap?"

"Permission granted," I say earning a kiss from Mel before she yawns and fall to sleep.

She sleeps for the last couple hours on the way to her place. When we arrive Kevin, Ethan, and Mark come out to meet us. I shake her awake, grabbed her bag, then we can get out together. Ethan wraps her up in a tight hug and the others do the same.

"Where are the rest of you guys?"

" Dad took them with him on a business trip," Ethan says.

"Who's the blonde with the ring on her finger?"

" The Ethan's fiancee Sophia," Mark comments.

Melody's P.O.V

I couldn't help but being hurt by Ethan having a fiancee. He promised he wouldn't propose till I got back. How hurt I was by this really showed when I said "oh" and ran into the house. As a natural reaction, Tom ran after me and we ran up the stairs until we were in my room.

"Mel are you alright?"

"He promised he wouldn't propose till i got back. He broke a pinky swear," I sob as Tom tries to calm me down by rubbing my back. Tom opens his mouth to say say something, but Ethan comes in. "Get the hell out of my room! I never want to see you ever again!"

He gets a hurt look on his face and leaves. I sob into Tom's shirt for about hour before I finally calm down.

"Feel better now," he whispers as he rubs my back. I nod and he gives me a hug and a kiss. "Will you be alright if I leave? My family is still waiting for me."
