~~~~CHAPTER 18~~~~
'Studying'~~~~
"Hey, sorry about the guys this morning," I said, really glad to see that Jessie lived practically across the road from school; meant I didn't have to go very far.
Jessie gave a bit of a shrug as she held her books against her. I noticed one of the books was about the supernatural type stuff.
"It's fine; they look like they're always like that," she said as she halted at her front door and searched around for her keys as Nero trailed along behind, not even across the road yet.
"They sure are..."
I watched as she got her keys out and unlocked the door; I heard a dog bark inside. She opened the door, going in and holding it open for me once she was inside. I gave her a bit of a grateful nod as I went in and she shut the door.
"So I saw you playing the guitar on Saturday," Jessie said as I followed her down the hallway and a small Jack Russell came running up to her as I followed. "You play often?"
"Uh, yeah," I said. "Been playing for a long time actually. We get together at Matt's nearly every day to practice and everything."
"That's cool," she said from one of the rooms near the end of the hallway; about half way down. "You wanna do that for a living?"
"So far that's the plan; we're not giving that up for anything," I said with a bit of a laugh as I found the right room and automatically went to sit down on the chair at her desk.
Jessie gave me a smile as she grabbed a different set of clothes from her drawer and I put my bag and crutches down.
"Just give me a few minutes to get changed into something a bit cleaner," she said with a bit of a smile, going out past me and down the hallway.
I just gave a bit of a nod even though she was already out in the hallway. I took the time that she was gone to take a bit of a look around her room; just what I could see anyway.
The walls were completely covered with posters of different bands and celebrities; a few I recognised, a few I didn't. There was hardly any actual wall left; nearly every inch of it had been covered except for the ceiling. Her room was pretty neat actually; looked like she kept it like this all the time.
I was currently sitting at her desk, which had everything lined up neatly without anything out of place. A few of her school books were there along with her laptop and a few reading books; most of them were either horror, fantasy or paranormal type books.
I picked up one of the books and saw it was a novel from the T.V. show Supernatural. I hadn't watched that show in years.
"Whatcha lookin' at?" I heard someone say from the doorway.
I looked over and away from the book, seeing Nero watching me curiously.
"Oh, uh just looking at a couple of the books your sister has," I said, holding up the book I was currently looking at, giving a bit of an awkward smile.
Nero gave a nod.
"Yeah, she reads a lot," he said, coming in and taking the book I was holding. "She loves this kinda stuff; dunno why though. Couldn't get into it myself." He paused and looked to me, indicating to the book. "You watch this show?"
"I used to," I said as he handed the book back. "Kinda lost track of it though; guess I just got too busy to watch it."
Nero gave a nod as he went over to Jessie's bed and sat down on it, placing his things down on the floor in front of him. I watched as he thought, all the while watching me.
